This pit really puts the “quick” in quicksand.
Thomas was on his 2nd escape attempt, he made it past the exit and was one of the very few subjects who actually made it to the tree line in the forest. Unfortunately he ran right into a pit of quicksand.
Initially he sank up to his waist almost immediately, the goop made a satisfying “splooogge” as it swallowed up his legs in seconds. Panicking, he looked around as the quicksand pulled him in deeper and deeper. Attempting to swim or move push the muck away from him as his abdomen disappeared below the earth. The quicksand jiggled around him as he sank even lower, Thomas stopped struggling as it reached his chest and shoulders. Instead he looked into the sky and breathed in deep as his head was sucked beneath the surface of the pit.
Some guards came along just in time to scoop him out, restrain him tight, and return him to the facility to be upgraded to phase 2 of the High Security Containment Protocol.
