Saw a few of these real life comparisons going around and took the opportunity to finalize a kind of avatar. In the past, I just tossed in a generic grey wolf when I needed a stand-in, but for this I added some extra color. I felt it was time to have something I could put on icons that wasn't just a random character of mine.
I have no personal feeling of "connection" toward any kind of animal, so I just went with one that was about as plain and boring as me.
The photo is from some years ago. I forget what the context was for why it was taken, or why it's at that angle.

Proper advice from a proper fellow artist and friend, so thank you for both a mutually-conspiratory audience and the kindness of advice and response, good chummer.
All kidding aside, I haven't quite trained myself out of pressing as hard as I once did when working with pencil-on-paper; my Wacom Intuos tablet (an old friend in owning it, but a more recent friend in getting it working and using it during the last 2 1/2 years) is immensely forgiving with that habit finessed through to and from traditional to stylus art, and I think that has also gotten me further from employing Scorched Canvas Graphite Tactics when I've picked up a pencil to draw with more recently.
Got myself a brand-new coil-bound, hardcover sketchbook the Thursday before last on the 8th, the same day coming home from my first in-person appointment with my psychiatrist since the pandemic officially set in here- usually we've had our appointments over the phone- and after six years drawing on loose leaf typing paper stuck in my Sheridan College logo clipboard, I wanted to have a proper Sketchbook Bud again; so it was found and done.

Suntory's awesome!
My personal favorite is the Hibiki but it's pricey AF and hard to find. My local spot is usually out of it.
All time favorite's 15 year Macallan single malt. Only ever get one for my birthday as a personal present cause it's like $150 here. One day I'll try the 21 year. One day.

Used to play table RPGs when I was young. Once, we saw a Western film (I forget which) where a man was giving another man a leather bag, and saying it was a fine bag made of buffalo scrotum. Ever since then, we referred to any bag with dice in it as the buffalo scrotum.
True story.

Real pencil? heh Reminds me of work bit back. All the pads to keep the cherubs quiet had run outa power thanks to a blown fuse in the power room. So I hands out lots a the old colouring pages n crayons. "Yes we do have this, its a tad old fashioned but as its not battery powered its perfect for moments like this. Also if you want to colour in our boring tables feel free. ((soto) nothing to do with the stuf we have that takes crayon off that surface in 30 seconds, or the fact by saying you can Iv taken all the fun out of doing it)

You look fine to me. I can't grow a cool beard without getting through the itchy phase and cutting it off. Cut your carbs, do your exercises, and seize control of everything within your grasp to do so. If the hat you're wearing isn't just a costume, you shouldn't be comparing yourself to an artist. You should have the grit to get to where you want.
not "costume" but no I never served. wasn't allowed to, asthma as a kid and it was on record. I tried to join anyway after highschool, but Bill Clinton was RIF'ding the military (Reduction In Forces) and recruiters in my are were only taking skinny, rich, and good looking kids... and I missed out on all three of those factors.
You Are An Artist. I'f just a fat ugly trucker. Sure Sure I can cook really good food, but neither of those PAYS.
and I had all of the art BEATEN out of me before I ever got to highschool in the late 80's, early 90's, anyway

I always thought your "Jaysona" was the character of Fisk from Better Days/Original Life. A lot of people did, though. The Wolf seems more you, somehow.
As far as you discontinuing Original Life, If you ran out of ideas, you ran out of ideas. It's not a good idea to force something like that, otherwise it doesn't turn out very well. Writing stories, Poetry, and composing Music is the same way. As someone who does all three, I can attest to it personally.
