to quote Mark Twain
"But who prays for Satan? Who in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most, our one fellow and brother who most needed a friend yet had not a single one, the one sinner among us all who had the highest and clearest right to every Christian's daily and nightly prayers, for the plain and unassailable reason that his was the first and greatest need, he being among sinners the supremest?"
- Mark Twain's Autobiography

Those who deserve the most love are those most in need of of it. Yes, Joel is batshit insane and kinda evil, however, the former negates the latter, a sick mind can not tell right from wrong.
Matt only wants to help people and who else but Joel needs help the most? Joel didn't want to do this but the voices in his head told him. there is a reason why the insane are not criminally liable for crime. They honestly believe the voice of god was telling them to kill for example. To Joel, his brother was evil and had to be stopped.
Who else but the sick in mind and spirit needs the most mercy and comfort?
Maybe this is more apt description of Matt, the righteous man
"'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.' Ezekiel 25:17.

First, it was his sister.
Second, he DID know what he was doing, and he enjoyed it. x3
He actually said at one point '' Of COURSE I know what I'm doing. Miranda would have starved without me.' exc.
Also, please stop quoting. My instincts tell me not to read large bodies of text that mean so many things that it simply cancels itself out, and then I feel bad for not reading it. D:
So I read it. And I don't get it. x3

yes but before he let his sister into his head, he was in a psych ward and was raped by a female nurse, and lets face it, feeding miranda is not a very sane thing to do.
My last quote was from pulp fiction and my gist is, Matt is the only good person there because he wants to help everyone, good or evil.

I liked Matt better when he was oblivious, childish, and unimportant.
Because he was more like a real person. I could relate to Matt, and so could everyone else, almost.
Now he's an all-knowing cross-dresser with psychadellic powers.
I could go on about Angie, but that would make me three times the dick I am already. (And hell, she really didn't change THAT much...)
At least Concession is resolving itself very much intact, and on less somber notes...

So... what happens now? Does evil truimph? Is good a lie? I thought Matt was the personification of good in this comic, a foil to Joels wickedness. Does this mean he's turned? That good is false and only evil exists? Or is there more to the story? Does Joel stop his madness? Will people stop suffering at his hand? How is this story going to end? I guess we can only trust in you as the author.
Because if this story ends on the note that 'Evil triumphs because good is a lie' I'm going to be pissed!

You clearly to the thought that good and evil are clearly defined. Sure Joel did a lot of messed up stuff, but I never thought he was evil. He had a cruel way of going about business, but in the end he was just doing what he thought was right. Stopping his brother's perceived control of the city and taking back the company he thought should be held by him and his mother.
Is Artie any more 'good' than Joel? Joel hurt many people he personally knew in cruel ways, but Artie burned down a whole city. The point of Matt and Artie's confrontation was that neither were any more good than the either, they were both just trying to do what they thought was necessary to achieve their goals. Joel's goal of taking back the company he thought was his, and Artie's goal of ending Joel's 'reign of terror'. Would either have followed the same paths had they believed that it wasn't necessary?
As for Matt, he's just doing what he thinks is right. He saved the person he loves. He knew Joel was hurting a lot of people, but he thought Joel was taking down a larger terror, and even almost dissuaded him from going that far. Now that the issue between his brother and him is 'mostly' resolved will Joel still be willing to hurt people without a goal? He's just trying to be happy, and he's learned that Matt is what makes him happy.
What is good? Condemning people who've wronged for an eternity trapped in their own mind, or helping someone grow past the dark place they were in? Saving Joel does not make Matt any more or less good. It was another selfish action that was morally ambiguous, just like almost every other action in this comic.

Except he clearly stated all he desired was power, and that compromise and such was for the weak..
As for Artie, he did it in anguish at his loves death, Joel premeditated all his friends deaths in painful suffering ways, inflicting horrors such as rape, pedophillia, diseease and such over his friends. HIS FRIENDS!
And if you didn't read a few pages before, you saw Joel just WANTED The company, willing to kill artie for it, and who knows what else he would do to gain power?

I believe his speech and following battle only happened because he was provoked, Artie stole the company he had been desiring for a long time and just gloated about it. Joel felt insulted, which drew him to fight. He build up his power to fight Julian first and foremost, never for any larger scheme. He just wanted what he thought was his.
As for Artie, he destroyed an entire city. That includes all of the Dolphin's family, friends, and neighbors. Her murderer was already dead, what was the point of killing another 500+ more people?
I suppose it really just boils down to what you think of when you think of evil.

Ive never seen joel look like that (other than when he cheated on Matt), but now I want to see if Joel gets the company because of Artie's revalation(thanks to Matt) or if joel gets a rematch with artie with matt on his side. OOORRR if there's gonna be a 2 on2 with artie and thonnen vs matt and joel. but here's the ultimate question... WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN TO MIRANDA!! if the violence actually stops then she has nothing to feed on!! I'll just wait and see, but if there's gonna be a filler I'm gonna be pissed!!!
Wow, that was an awesome comic. There are a few questions left like, what will Joel do now and what exactly happened to miranda? Did she "die" or does she exist in some other state or something? Also, I'm just so glad that Clarissa survived. Dunno why I liked her as much as I did but she just seemed to me like a good person/character.
It show's Miranda alive and kicking in this comic: (Bottom left corner)

Will she be able to survive without continued violence in the future? That's to be seen, but I really don't see why not. It sounded like she got stronger with violence rather than was sustained by it. And Matt was able to tap into his powers without his own violence so there's a possibility it wasn't necessary at all. Well see hopefully.

Miranda heeled at Matt's side, with Joel still lying on his bed... seems to me that at this point, Matt is the one on top of things, perhaps through Joel's subservience to him Miranda could be kept in check as well...
or thats my take on it... Matt being a foil to both Joel and Artie, proving that true good is about doing things for the sake of others... not for any petty notions...

Actually, I think the expression on Matt's face in the first panel of this installment is even better than Joel's in the panel above. It wasn't all that long ago that Matt's father threw him out of the house over his sexual orientation. He grew stronger, wiser, and happier real damn quick in such a short time frame -- and I'm lovin' it.
Your web comic rocks. Never let anyone tell you otherwise...

When this is all finished, publish it. I will buy it. This comic, this whole story, has had some great, if off-putting (and so much the better for it), twists that I would have never seen coming.
I really look forward to seeing how this all ends. I almost can't wait. You're doing a great job, man.
