Original Species: Arcadian Giant Crocodile
The Arcadian Giant Crocodile is the counterpart to the Black Devil Crocodile of Shangrila. Though both species are separated by thousands of kilometers, both species fulfill the role of the giant freshwater predator in their respective ecosystems. There are, however, a few significant differences between the two.
The Arcadian Giant Crocodile resides in a much more open environment; the rivers and lakes it inhabits are mostly located amidst open grasslands, where giant herbivores reside. With a lot more light available to it, its scales are much lighter in color (black scales are better suited for darker areas such as dense forests and swamps and they would stand out a lot more in a well-lit open environment). It also has a thicker hide, than the species native to Shangrila, as it lives alongside True Water Dragons, who sometimes try making a meal out of it. On top of that competition from the ever-present members of the Pseudosuchus species. These factors make the Arcadian Giant Crocodile a much more "defensive species" than its Shangrila counterpart.
So yeah, another crocodilian this time.
From now on I also am thinking of adding very simple, sketched-out backgrounds to this series of drawings to make them "less empty". I'd appreciate some feedback on that front.
