Pinno' Grath Lore Bible | 'Shark' Alien | Sci-fi/Fantasy
★ Side-Project ★
I'm so glad to finally be able to show the pinno' grath to you in all their glory! The pinno' grath have a strange relationship with the other two dominant species I've so far developed (including the mukash). They're a predator species while the mukash and kasulam (who I'll upload in a few weeks) are both prey species, and that dangerous dynamic has absolutely continued into their sapiency.
That led the mukash and kasulam to take the time and effort to develop other aspects to their relationship with the pinno' graths' relationship: they provide them with emergency rations of water, share some of the fish they catch (and I have yet to come up with an alternative word for 'fish' - so just imagine alien fish here ;) ), and they help sick and injured individuals to heal by giving them a space in which to quarantine themselves.
All of that only works on the more socially aware pinno' grath - there's no point in helping your predator if they're going to go all "frog and the scorpion" on you - so the prey species pick and choose which pinno' grath they help, with the more socially aware individuals being the lucky recipients.
This provides a survival advantage for the more socially aware members of the species, which is slowly making the pinno' grath develop into a truly sapient species. There's a way to go yet, but the seeds of change are germinating nicely!
This is sci-fi/science fiction, not fantasy, but Furaffinity lacks a drop-down option for that.

What is Kaleida?
Kaleida is a worldbuilding project without a storyline or individual characters. Most of my clients come to me with stories and characters and treat worldbuilding as an after-thought, so I'm doing the opposite and focusing solely on my worldbuilding. This species is a result of my research on how to create an alien ecosystem, which I wrote as a blog series. Read it here.

Thanks very much for your kind words, and for your patience!
They definitely present issues with the modern world presented by the Committee - hunters would theoretically make poor bedfellows with organisations dedicated to the protection of animals. Yet, they fit under that protection umbrella. A community of pinno' grath don't present a threat to their prey as a species, they're just doing what they must to survive.
