Hours had passed, as the afternoon quickly turned into night. Many of the residents of Daybreak Town had already called it a day and went back to their homes. This wasn’t the case for Oliver however, as he merrily walked outside as he made his way to the Fountain Square an hour before their scheduled meeting, all the while carrying a bouquet of flowers to present to Lynn.
Oliver: I hope Lynn likes these flowers. Erzebet did say that roses do resemble one’s love for another.
Just as Oliver was about to turn the corner to reach the Fountain Square, he could hear two female voices nearby. One of them he knew was Lynn’s voice, but the other he wasn’t familiar with. Not wanting to intrude in the conversation, Oliver stood by the corner of the wall he was near, and took a quick peek past it. That where he saw Lynn, wearing her usual outfit, as well as her Royal Minnie Mouse headband. She was talking to another woman, who Oliver heard from Lynn in their talk that her name was Audrey. Taking his head away from peeking, Oliver continued to hide behind the corner, waiting for the right time to come out and ask out Lynn. However, when Oliver listened into their conversation, he began to hear things he regretted eavesdropping into. He had learned that Audrey was one of Lynn’s former teammates from a different Union before she came to Anguis and joined Galactic Star, as the two of them were catching up on how things were since Lynn had left. But when Lynn started to speak, she began to talk about Oliver, and how that she was able to make him fall for her and only used him to teach her the basics on how to fight off the Heartless strategically and efficiently.
Lynn: And you know what else was more pathetic? He fell for my charms hook line and sinker. He doesn’t even know I just played him along for all of this helpful information.
Audrey: Are you going to share any of these juicy tidbits with me and the others?
Lynn: Oh no doubt I will. Already got my excuse letter placed on that bench over there when he arrives in about an hour. Only saying that “An old friend asked me to help them in Wonderland and went to their aide and sorry for not making it”. Even placed one of my headbands at the coordinated area I put on the note. So when he sees it, all of it would lead to me “Being dead”.
With the last part being said in air quotes, Audrey was surprised with Lynn’s planning.
Audrey: Damn girl. Faking your death on someone who really liked you? Isn’t that a bit much?
Lynn: Awww. Feeling bad for that pathetic sap?
Audrey: Hardly since I never met him. I think it’s crazy to see you put so much work and detail on something like this just to ditch someone.
Lynn: At least he would only think I am dead and would only live with dread and regret. I say it’s a lot better than knowing what “Really” happened to me.
Audrey: Not to mention all of that great info he passed to you.
Lynn and Audrey began laughing together, as Audrey laughed at the fact that Lynn was able to get away with something just for her and her teammates to get ahead of everyone else, while Lynn laughed at the sheer gullibility of Oliver, and knowing how easy it was to manipulate people to get what she wanted. But at the corner of the wall, with hearing everything that Lynn admitted to doing, Oliver could only clench at the bouquet of flowers he had, as tears flowed down his face, and the feeling of betrayal overwhelmed him. Not wanting to hear Lynn’s voice anymore, the heartbroken man could do nothing but throw the flowers to the ground, bring his left arm to his face, and run back home, doing his best to hide the shame he felt from being seen.
