HIGH RESOLUTION
So for who don't know: in 2009 a paleontologist named Jack Horner proposed that by there is a possibility to get avian dinosaurs by genetically modifying modern birds DNA. And believe it or not but in late 2010's a genetic engineers truly did it (sort of) by activeting a genes which no longer serve function, but still exist in chicken DNA and give chicks things like theropodian pelvis and long tail. I recommend to watch video "Should we create a Dino-Chicken?" from TREY on YT to get the whole picture about the project.
As far as I know, the project was cancelled (maybe for the best of the chickens). However, I wondered how this "chickenosaurus" could look like if they truly did it on a full scale and if they had technology as advanced as in Jurassic Park. So I did a sketch and contacted Miguel and... Well, now you can see what we did... :)
So if you ever wanted a chicken dinosaur, now is your chance.
To be honest, this interpreration of chickenosauruses is closely related to my OC Sedmikráska, who was by her lore created in similiar way and her species name is reference to this GE project.
origin:
Chickenosaurus is a artificially made species with main genom sequence being based on Gallus Domesticus ( also commonly known as domesticated chicken.)
The process creating chickenosaurus is done by inserting a few days old chicks with substance labeled as GMV78-CN. The GMV78-CN stands for "Genom Modifying Virus" the number 78 is a number of chromosomes of targeted species and "CN" indicates the country of origin: People's Republic of China.
GMV78-CN is a mixture of the mentioned Bacteriophage virus and set of hormones like somatotropin, which causes abnormal growth and activation of various inactive ancient genes plus completly changing certian sequences in DNA's helix.
The substance is given though feed in a shape of brightly blue coloured pellets and starts the transformation which lasts into the point of reaching sexual maturity (for chickens this is around the 20th week of their life).
The first documented prototype of chickenosauruses was a Czech Gold Brindled hen created by accident in Czech Republic during year 202X when truck which was transporting secret night shipment of GMV78-CN lost one can near stream which was then washed it up near the chicken coop owned by two local senior citizens.
The shipment was back then addresed to Slanické kuře a.s., a company owned by czech billionaire and ex-president Ondřej Škudla, as experimental dietary supplement.
As a response to the accident from 202X and the similiar accident which folloved the use of GMV78-CN or any similiar substances to create creatures like chickenosaurus become illegal after the signing of the International law number 1910/203X.
statistics and charakterisitcs:
Adult chickenosauruses created from common breeds like Bovans Browns can stand around 19 meters tall and weighs around 20tons. However, the size and weight can deviate: using Brahmas or Jersey Giants can increase the height up to 27 metres (if they were capable to only stand on two legs) or to grow just to 3-4 meters when breeds like Semara were used. The movement is usualy bipedal for most of the breeds but the mentioned giant individuals created from the mentioned Brahmas or Jersey Giants have to walk quadrupedaly to better spread the mass, unfortunatelly the front libs aren't designed for it and recieve severe bone and joint damage - for this reason these abnormally massive chickenosauruses get some type of modification or special gloves to prevent the damage.
Body of chickenosaurus is covered in short feathers (more fluffy on the underside), expect the forearms and tail where feathers can be several meters long. The hens have often a dull feathers while the roosers can have more bright and rich colours.
Both hens and roosters have distinctive smooth face mask around their eyes - this mask is also a clear gender distinguisher, since rooser always have a tear-shaped outcrop on the bottom part of the face mask.
Even though the chickanosauruses can be predatory, they never been observed to hunt common chickens. This behaviour also appeared in speciments who were taken shortly from the flock as transforming chicken or which were already born as chickenosaurus and grew up with others of their kind. This pacifistic or protective behaviour isn't truly understood - The theory is that the chickenosaurus is somehow able to subconsciously recognize the resemblance similiary how Paleolithic humans though of Neanderthals like if they were the same species. For this reason, it is pretty common to see domesticated speciments as part of chicken flocks.
Another debate characteristic is the inteligence. The chickenosauruses are presumed to have IQ similiar to chimpanzees or dolphins, however, the evidence and reports proves that the IQ could be even higher. The observed behaviour includes: self recognition, sound mimicing, attempt for insterspecies communication, object observation and examination, puzzle solving capabilities, complex packbonding - like interspecies friendship or adoption, and simple tool use - this behaviour is very common for chickenosauruses which have gene for opposable thumbs.
Population of wild chickenosaurus spreads over the north and middle Europe, north Asia and North America on the border of United States and Canada.
As was previously stated: The creating of chickenosauruses was made illegal, however, their population continues to slowly grow since thess genetically modified creatures are fertile. Hens can lay two types of eggs: small and bright were found to be always unfertilized and dark egg about the size of small child (*) when fertilized - this minimizes a waste of nutriens during the ovulation period and the other reason is that since this animal originates from laboratory environment, a visible difference between fertilized and unfertilized eggs serves as clear indicator.
The hens usually lay just a single egg per period, however, after a insertion of male sex cells the hen's ovary system can produce up to 5 eggs. After a laying the egg(s) needs around a month to hatch.
The chicks reach maturity around a 2nd year of their live. The maximum age isn't known, since a lot of 1st generation chickenosauruses are still alive so the maximal age is only estimated to be around 50 years.
(*) Note: This fact that fertillized chickenosaurus' egg has enough space inside for human child caused a creation of various rumours and tales. One of those tales is trying to explain a disappearance of group of 8yo kids who become orphaned after destruction of village named [redacted] in November of 204X and got then lost in a near forest when they were trying reach near town. However, the truth of this story cannot be confirmed by the current understanding of biology.
