oh yes, we dragons do have a very sensitive sense of smell
I can just imagine what he had to endure when he was enveloped by a big dense cloud of your stench that made him choke and cough and desperately gasp for fresh air that just made him breath more and more of your potent stink.
He propably didn't even made it out of the cave to escape the horrible stench before he lost consciousness.
