My boyfriend bought us a dehydrator and since im struggling with my sweet tooth and diabetes i wanted to try my hands at some fruit leathers
This is a dehydrator recipe but you can do it in an oven. I’ll update the oven instructions if folks are interested
Any way I hope you and
~faccc2 try it and enjoy too
Fruit leather
Ingredients
4 cups Chopped and peeled fruit of your choice
1/4 cups water
Optional sugar, cinnamon, or seasoning to taste
Step 1
Peel and chop your fruit, it doesn’t have to be to small bout an inch or two
Step 2
simmer in 1/4 cup water for every 4 cups fruit. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until softened
Step 3
pour into blender of food processor and purée until well blended. Taste test the puree and add any extras at this point
Step 4
return to heat and cook whil stirring over medium heat untill thickened about 5 to 10 minutes
Step 5
let cool, and if you have one line a leather tray with parchment paper. (If you don’t you can still use a regular rack lined with parchment paper) pour the puree unto the tray and spread evenly.
Step 6
Run the dehydrator at 140 degrees for 6 to 12 hours
With the parchment sheets the leather should peel right off
Now for the apple pie leathers i added about 1 1/2 tap cinnamon and about 1/8 a cup of apple crisp whiskey
