Not that I know of since I haven't been into Canada in years. Though I honestly wouldn't put it past them if they tried at one point or another. Because even if the price of things are expensive for us locals it's still cheaper for those coming out of Quebec for such things. A lot of them are mostly your typical rude tourist but there are some that come over for hunting and what not.
But from what I know they've mostly tried sneaking alcohol, food items that aren't allowed across the border, large electronics. and they'll literally wear multiple layers of clothing to make it look like they came across that way. There's probably some other stuff they don't allow across but I haven't a clue.
As for Americans trying to bring guns into Canada, it's not that they're crazy Americans. They're just plain stupid. Just because you can open or conceal carry in your home state doesn't mean you can travel with it. Especially into Canada and on an air plane at that. Sadly some people lost the ability to think.

I've lost count how many times I've seen in the news an American tourist getting arrested for having a handgun in their pocket or their travel bag while sight-seeing our landmarks. Most of the time they're let off with a slap on the wrist because "Duuuuh I didn't know you're not allowed to have a loaded gun in your pocket in Canada..."
Though violent gun crime is on the rise in Canada, and almost every single time the identified weapons used in the shootings were illegally smuggled over the boarder, so I can understand the extra caution.

Ya, those people are just morons pretending they don't know. Sadly they just happen to be Americans. Notice how it's always some tourist? The tourists we get here from Quebec aren't much better but they're not smuggling over hand guns as far as I know. They're just rude mostly. It's no different than if I were to buy a handgun. Being in NY I could easily travel over into Vermont and buy one without needing a license because that's how Vermont is. But if I were to come back into NY and get caught with it without a license I could get arrested for illegal gun possession.
Quebecois are notorious here in Ontario too. They don't like anglophones and a lot of them are low-key racist. Not speaking for all Quebecois of course but that's the experience I and most of my family and friends have had in Quebec. Trying to have a conversation with a Quebecois in English feels like they're trying to hold back cussing you out in French for not knowing French.
My friend and I have a buddy on Discord who is over in Ontario and he's not fond of the Quebecer's either, like us. Obviously not all of them are rude. But the problem with the ones who are rude think themselves to be above those who aren't "french" and think they deserve special treatment when visiting places. They also don't stop to realize their version of "french" is total gibberish compared to true French. A mutt one would say. :)
I too live in Ontario. Right near the Quebec border.
A lot of the problem is the politics in Quebec. They drum on about "The Quebecois must preserve our language and history or else be driven extinct by the Anglophones!" That's why, I kid you not, it is illegal to have any sign or written post displayed in Quebec that doesn't have the French version in larger font at the top.

I guess it's a good thing I haven't been into Canada/Quebec in years. I think the last time I went I was with my mother and I was still in my teens. You were able to freely cross if you were a local from town. Since they made it so you either need a passport or enhanced drivers license for NY I haven't been to Canada. I don't find a point spending the extra money for a feature I'll probably never use. The last time I went while I was in school it was for a field trip into Montreal to see the Bio Dome. I was a little kid so it's been a very long time to say the least. :)
It's true that the french in Quebec and France is very different, but I would strongly advise against telling someone from Quebec that they speak wrong and "not true french." The result would be like telling a texan that he's talking gibberish and to speak true english like the british do.
It's the same as how Mexican Spanish is unique from European Spanish.
Also as someone who lives very near the Quebec border and has spoken to many Quebecois...they typically prefer to be referred to as "Quebecois," not "Quebec-ers."
It'd be like calling Americans "South Canadians." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmOVCNITnKk

'S'funny. I spent a week in Canada a half-dozen years ago to visit our Toronto branch. I walked through the metal detector and everything. When I was putting stuff back in my pockets I realized I still had my Swiss Army Knife in my pants pocket. Nothing.
Coming back to the States was no fun at all. The TSA found my Pistol Permit in my wallet and kept dragging me out of line to await questioning.
