Context for the title: Dune here is based mostly on the rat but also partially the thylacine. Thylacines had very large wide maw gape (120 degrees, to be exact. For reference Hippos can open to 150, and lions at 65-75 degrees), and if you look up "thylacine yawn" the images are both entertaining and depressing when you realize these beautiful animals went extinct, with the last one in captivity simply waiting to die. It's a crime that I'll never get to see one.
