So, you don't paint directly on a sketch?

No, I have my own method I’ve developed over the years. I usually sketch on paper, then either scan or take a photo of that, clean it up/ink it digitally (in Procreate) and put it on the size paper that I want to print it on. Then I tape that paper to the back of the watercolor paper and, using a light table to see the composition underneath, paint the colors, and ink last.

Yeah same here! There’s a certain charm only a sketch has too I feel. It’s nice to be able to keep it.
