Salisbury, the affectionately named Fire Sprite, is a curious thing- as all sprites are. Neither sentient nor beast, these otherworldly creatures allow their mortal companions to borrow their power for limited times.

I'd explain further, but concept art also involves conceptual backgrounds. Meaning, I don't have anything set in stone about the sprites or Sal- except that Hype can summon him at any time to fuse and gain the power of fire.
