i think its Weight gain because he says in the anime "giant meal" and in the manga he refers his increased weight as "i'm starting to feel alittle heavy in my stomach", Also the noises his stomach makes before he blows sounds alot like overstuffed belly with food, and not like air or such.
it also ties into his actaul growth, as when your eat your body uses what it needs to strengthen it and all the rest stays in your stomach.
