Bruce Richter & Vivienne Snowbelle: Snep, Flicks, & Chill
Bruce had pretty much always found Viv attractive, but up until the Summer of 2301, he hadn't the courage to admit his feelings to her; perhaps Kyle was just a bad influence on him or he was just afraid of what she'd think? She could, after all, be as abrasive as steel wool, though if there was one thing he and Star knew, it's that she meant well enough. Once he started getting to know her on the side, he found she was raised to be more disciplined by her father, a police chief, who only wanted to keep her from falling in to the same bad crowd he had once when he was her age; as such, she had grown up with a sort of 'tough girl' facade that made it difficult for her to have any friends, but those that befriended her found her to be loyal and honest, but more than anything compassionate and empathetic. He had seen a taste of that with her caring and, dare he say, mothering of Halostar.
He had to admit it made him feel a touch inadequate by comparison, seeing as he was more of a wild child despite his father, Sebastian, having been a dedicated and disciplined officer of Star Fleet. He had mostly been raised by his mother and grandparents, so, to a degree, he had grown a bit spoiled and vocal about his likes and dislikes, but never to the point that he'd wind up like Kyle: that self-centered schmuck. His parents were very liberal in his upbringing, for sure, but they made sure to reel him in when his misbehaving crossed a line. He mostly just wanted people's approval, more-over he just liked seeing people's happy smiling faces; he had to wonder at times if that was because he would try to cheer mom up when she was worried about his father or if it was something else he just couldn't pin down. Whatever the case, come adulthood, he'd find a job at a Carnegie's, a national grocery store chain that started in the Michigan Province of Greater North America some time during the Great Reconstruction, and found himself sliding in to a natural groove. When asked if he wanted to make a career out of pushing carts, bagging groceries, and general cleaning, he'd emphatically answer no, but when followed up with what he'd prefer his career to be long-term, he would simply shrug and admit he wasn't sure yet, but he's content with where he's at at the moment.
Viv thought his answer was flippant, but she sensed his displeasure wasn't outweighing his happiness, so despite how much she wanted to argue, she would simply shrug it off, though she would put a pin in it as she was convinced he was just being stubborn; however, as his loving wife of 2 years, she was nonetheless respectful of his decision, only wanting him to be happy. She would sometimes voice her discontent with his situation, given how he would sometimes vent whenever he got home, but he'd admit that sometimes all he really needed to do was get his displeasure off his chest, that sometimes things happen and he's learned to be okay with that.
"I just...I worry about you sometimes, babe," Vivienne would say as she caressed his cheek.
Bruce would bow his head and sigh before he'd stroke her chin, his contented smile never leaving his face, "I know. I can't fault you for that. I love you, hon." He'd giggle in reply before drawing her in for a tender, love-filled kiss. They would giggle as they stared in to each-other's eyes for a brief moment of eternity before sighing contentedly, Viv leaning against him as their attention was returned to the classic sci-fi movie marathon on TV.
