"Long ago, there were no warriors in our tribe. We ran freely, hunted freely, raised our pups freely under the sun and stars.
But now...there is no wolf alive who can remember such a time. Only the mountains remain as witnesses."
Most wolf tribes are too small for rigid caste systems, but distinct roles have formed over the years: hunters and gatherers who sustain the tribe, warriors who build its shelters and defend it, and shamen who heal it and guide it. Of course, not all members of the various wolf tribes are wolves. Ravens were a separate people once, but over many generations of cooperation and mutual benefit, they are now effectively integrated. No warrior will lead a war party without a raven scout looking out from the treetops, and likewise no raven will seek prey without wolves following behind.

About two years ago,
Ruaidri started the "Failed Hunt" series of paintings about a deer tribe that tortures, maims, and enslaves wolves, or otherwise kills them and turns them into pelts. I had very limited success introducing ideas for the wolf side of the story through the lopsided Patreon polls, and well, I thought it wasn't very fair to the wolves who in our world are (still) subjected to unbelievable cruelty for the sake of deer and caribou. Since it didn't seem like their story was going to get told any time soon, I decided to start a sort of spinoff to tell the events leading up to Part 4.
Stay tuned. Things will get...worse.
