Since giant shadow monster attacks tend to happen in big cities, you can often find the warriors patrolling them. Not so much to be on active guard, but more to help familiarize themselves with the potential battlegrounds. To know what buildings could be used for cover either by the warriors or even by the attackers.
In the case of Ree’Va the Thievul/Weavile, it helps to know when and where buildings might get in the way of her swinging that massive scythe. o3o
