Malicia (マリシア)

Often the subject of fear by many, stories have been passed around about groups of Malicias burning and tearing entire villages to the ground.

It has a strong predisposition to hold grudges, regardless of it's natural temperament. Only skilled and knowledgeable trainers are recommended to care for one.

It appears to communicate through a mixture of wails and the loud popping of the joints in it's "legs". Older instances have even been observed producing a sound similar to a distorted bell.

Malicia is based on the onryo of japanese folklore, particularly modern depictions. Notable onryo that inspired it are Sadako/Samara from The Ring, Kayako from Juon/The Grudge, and the ghost from the tale "Of a Promise Broken".

Malicia is derived from the word "malice". Though the name is similar to the Portugese translation of malice, this is merely a coincidence

RELATED COMMENTARY

This fakemon was originally meant to be a pokemon based on La Llorona, but I decided to base it on an onryo when I retackled the idea. That said, I can imagine a regional variant being based on her.

Stats would probably look like this:

HP:90
ATK:110
DEF:100
SP ATK:110
SP DEF:60
SPD:40

This might be the only time I'll have a critter's stats figured out.

As for abilities, I imagine it's common ability is Intimidate, which likely isn't as useful since it's defense is better than it's special defense, but it seems to fit lore-wise. It's hidden ability would be a custom one called "Frightening Aura", where attacks may sometimes paralyze the opponent. It ignores Electric types' natural immunity to paralysis, but abilities that protect the pokemon from Intimidate (specifically, abilities like Inner Focus and Oblivious, but not ones like Clear Body and White Smoke) will also be immune to Frightening Aura's paralysis.
