Cheekers goes for a long walk, just to take in the autumn air before it gets too cold to enjoy the scenery.

Day Nine: (Prompt used: “Walk”)
It was a fairly warm autumn day. Cheekers knew that a cold winter was right around the corner, and that would force him inside for longer than he would like, so he decided to just go outside and enjoy the last of the warmth when it was in that sweet spot of “not hot, but not cold”.
Leaves had already started to change color, and they congregated in piles of crunchiness as Cheekers strolled along the trail. Sure, having previously been a set of railroad tracks that the town had decided would be better as a set of pedestrian trails, the view was less than scenic as he walked by several backyards, each one in a different state of cleanliness. At the very least, most of them had fences obscuring the yard inside and made it easier to lose himself in the autumn air.
It seemed like forever since Cheekers last took a walk to enjoy himself, most of the time it was just a means to get from home to another place, most likely the grocery store or some fast-food restaurant for a quick bite. As a teenager he often took walks to calm down from whatever had frustrated him to a violent outburst, but that doesn’t happen as much now that he’s been an adult for a majority of his life now. Sure, he still got frustrated, but he knew how to leave situations like that, or at least ignore them until they stopped.
The trail often intersected the road, and that required him to stop and look for traffic, this allowed him to get a better look of the neighborhoods in the area, and it was pleasant to see how some of them had decorated themselves for Halloween, others decorated for the fall season in general, and the oddball that hadn’t taken down their decorations from the summer holidays.
The only thing that could make this moment better would have been someone to share it with, but in times where you don’t have such a commodity, some quiet introspection will have to do.
“You know what I could use right now?” Cheekers thought to himself, “This would be a great time to eat something overloaded with cinnamon”. Maybe a little bit of a detour is needed, to pick up some seasonal snacks and some hot chocolate.
