It was awhile after the incident, he'd been existing. Simply existing in the wild. He hadn't ate much, he had definitely not slept much. His memory faded in and out as he stumbled. His soles ached, his body was thinning. He heard a noise, a door opening and shutting. He saw a car drive off, people happily talking between the engine's putter. A house. . . he needed that. Basil made for it.
His mind blanked. He stumbled. Someone moved. No longer Basil, he saw eyes watching him. The last pair he'd had to kill. Hers were wild, like a blooming flower. Her jaw dropped and he lunged.
Basil meets Adara after a long and painful experience, his robes and body soaked. Adara is shocked but more surprised to see anyone out in that part of the woods. It's only when she sees his face she fills a hard knock of fear.
