RIP Angela Landsbury
Hollywood legend, one of the last of the Golden age of Hollywood passed away. Angela Landsbury . Moving to Los Angeles in 1940 to avoid the Blitz of London. And getting her start in in the 1944 film, Gaslight. Literally launching her career. Her next films, National Velvet and Picture of Dorian Gray cemented it further.
Her career included films like Harvey Girls, Samson and Deliah, Court Jester, The Long Hot Summer, and her role as the mother in The Manchurian Candidate . And my personal favorite, as the Wannabee Witch, Miss Price in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Her Broadway career included starring roles in Mame, The king and I, Deuce.
But she'll best be known as her role as Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote, as the detective, for 12 seasons.
And for ever known as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast in 1992.
To me, We all lost two Royals this year!

Angela Lansbury also played the homicidal Mrs Lovett in the Broadway version of Sweeney Todd.
She also starred in a R-rated horror movie version of the Little Red Riding Hood tale titled The Company of Wolves. Co-starring David Warner. Shape shifting werewolves galore.

I remember showing some friends "The Court Jester" for the first time and the preview described her as the beautiful Angela Landsbury and they all chuckled as they'd only ever seen her as the Grandmother type. What an amazing actress with such a fantastic career. I grew up with her as Jessica Fletcher and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks". Thank you for all the joys! Rest in Peace, dear lady!

*sighs* "I know, our greats aren't immortal but, this is getting heart breaking. Everyone of incredible importance in the last 4 years has been passing away.
Was this why, our grandparents were always so nostalgic with old movies? A way to keep their idols alive in their hearts for a little longer?

It was heart breaking hearing of her passing.
As a kid in the 80s, I only ever first saw her as Miss Price in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I love her singing voice and character on screen. Such a joy it was like watching a family relative sometimes.
I especially loved her role as Mrs Potts, her singing voice was always so cheerful and a delight.
