"Ri-me literally means 'without boundaries' and refers to the nonsectarian or nonpartisan movement that arose in Eastern Tibet in the nineteenth century. [...] Ri-me represents an appreciation for the multiplicity of authentic Tibetan practice traditions in all their diversity and a commitment to work for their survival."
-- Reginald A. Ray, Indestructible TruthA 5" x 7" acrylic painting commissioned from
sevas-tra, based on a photo reference; this is apparently the first full painting she's done. The golden text says "Ri-me" in Tibetan script, and the glow is taken from descriptions of numinous beings in Buddhist texts. A blue background with yellow/blue script is traditionally used in prayer flags, especially those to promote healing.A larger version can be seen here.

Oh yes, I love brahmic scripts, Tibetan in particular! They have so many artistic/aesthetic values.
I have never heard about "ri me", but I guess it's a general tendency of humanity to divide spiritual or intelectual movements into other, smaller ones, based on differenciating points of view. Such separatism is bad from one hand, because it promotes differences between people, making communities weaker, but from the other hand it is a positive sign of others' independent thinking (under the condition, naturally, that the split isn't caused by political factors, which is often the case as well)... And then arises a wish to reunite all these small movements into one again, similar as it was with ecumenism in christianity or bahaism in terms of all monotheistic religions...
And going back to the drawing, it's a very well painted leopard : ) Boddhisattva Leopardeśvara :P
