Been having a hard time staying motivated recently, due to a number of factors. It's been seriously hurting my capacity to get art done, but hopefully it clears up soon enough.
This is a character
SelisSculpts and I have had floating around for a while, a Floatzel woman named Penny. Don't mistake that belly for fat; she was born with a strange condition that causes her entire body to inflate when she tries to puff up her tube. She's very funny and there's a lot of cool lore surrounding her, guys, trust me

Real talk: Incidental is a seriously talented writer, and that's why I respect them
Instead of half-assing it and making this condition permanent out of horniness for "Forever big = good" (It's a lazy cop-out and not to mention it implies a really shitty life for a character who doesn't deserve it.)
Incidental instead made this condition more comedic and lighthearted, much more in line with the world of pokemon, which I respect and support because comedy is the purest form of entertainment.
In other words: Penny is a Cutie patootie who deserves all the poffins

"It implies a really shitty life for a character who doesn't deserve it" sums up why a lot of perma stuff puts me off. If Penny's condition left her totally round and helpless for her entire life, and she had no control over it, that would honestly be kinda sad and morbid. It'd feel like fetishizing a disability, which just rubs me the wrong way. In a fully realized setting, Penny definitely wouldn't be able to live the most "normal" kind of life, but her condition is something she'd accept and have fun with. I've always believed porn/fetish stuff is no excuse for lazy storytelling, so I'm glad you can read into Penny and see more than an air-filled lust object. I hope as I introduce more characters tied to Penny, I'll be able to keep up those standards.

Totally agreed with like . . . All of this. Yeah we all here like a cute round body but I've always strongly disliked the 'permanence' trope some people give a a gimmick. I've always liked to think about this stuff as if it could happen to me. And while I'd love to just be a round cuddly Glaceon for a while I'd prefer to be able to move again later and not suffer all the inconvenience all the time. These kinds of tropes like this one are fun and lighthearted and serve to make the character feel more like a fun friend you'd like to spend time with and get to know, not just "hehe they're big and I'm horny". I've strived to try and make my characters lovable if possible, even if they were made with inflation/fat content in mind. Their personalities are never fully rooted in their fetish nature.

Ah jeez . . . Sorry to hear that . . . Like I mean, fair enough that some people like it, since everyone has their tastes, but honestly I find chars like this so much more fascinating. They've got a fun gimmick, but it's harmless and can lead to some fun, silly situations like "oops! Just gimme a moment~" xP plus it isn't their ENTIRE character so they have more depth.
Exactly! Heck, stay tuned once I gather my barrings, I'm in the process of making a new character who I made to well, actually be a proper character. Yes, she's fat, but that's not her whole character.
She's a warrior queen who loves her people, and would strongly prefer to be on the battlefield with her men rather than sitting on a cozy throne.
design-wise, she's going to be an homage to H.R Giger, just to prove that you can achieve a middle-ground of cute and scary.
