I love Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Between amazing powers, strange and loveable characters, and one of the greatest villains… possibly ever, definitely in anime, it definitely lives up to the bizarre part of its title, and it is epic for it. Where else do you get a psychotic falcon with ice powers? Pet Shop is someone that both unnerves and impresses me; I’ve heard him described as a serial killer in the form of a bird, and I agree. He’s definitely enough of a psychopath. I love the ice powers, and suitably freaky-looking Stand, not to mention how good he is in the fighting games! I’m pretty sure this is the first picture of him hypnotized; hopefully it’s not the last!
(Pet Shop’s sound effects are from Heritage for the Future. I’m not certain they know what a bird sounds like.)
Pet Shop smirked, eyes and smile wide as he peered into the reddened water. If he wasn’t in a sewer at the moment, the little worm’s blood would make a fine treat. As it was, he would have to freeze the paw his prey had lost for later; the pursuit came first, always. He’d have chased him to the end of the Earth regardless, but that mutt had done far more than ruffle his feathers, and for that, he’d pay.
The falcon’s eyes zoomed in on the far end of the tunnel. As he thought, a small red stain was on the wall. He’d never been in the sewers before, but he had flown over Cairo enough to have a good sense of where he was. If he remembered correctly, there was a pipe leading to the ocean in that direction; he doubted the dog could swim very far on three legs, but he could see him creating a breathing apparatus with The Fool and trying to wait him out underwater.
Big mistake.
Pet Shop took flight, soaring through the tunnel with ease. It had been a longer hunt than usual, but that only made the end sweeter, the rush from their terror more intense. A few icicles from his Stand were enough to obliterate any enemy. Infuriating as he’d been, a small dog was just going to be more bones to pick clean and add to the nest.
The bird flew out from the pipe, scanning the water as he went. He almost missed it at first; the pair of breathing tubes sticking from the water resembled reeds from a distance, but a closer look showed they were made of sand. Pet Shop smirked, flying high into the air, preparing to dive…
And a thought occurred to him.
This chase had eaten up quite a few minutes, all of them spent away from his master’s home. It wasn’t inconceivable that someone had decided to try and trespass in that time, taking advantage of the gatekeeper flying the coop.
Pet Shop glanced at the water. The worm would hide until he thought it was safe; that gave him at least a few minutes. He was a fast flier; one quick swoop to take care of any intruders, and he’d be back to deal with that dog.
The falcon flew off, already zooming in on the mansion. Sure enough, he could see something wriggling under the door…
Kaa glanced around as he pulled his tail past the door. No one was here - perfect! Finally, some peace and quiet. Cairo had been a lot more hectic than he’d expected so far. Everywhere he went, there were crowds of humans; normally he’d welcome the chance for a meal, but the sheer number made it hard to go unnoticed. It was hard to take a nap when everywhere you went, you were met with cries of “SNAAAAAAAKE!” and people fleeing. He’d tried slipping under a cardboard box at one point, only to be beaten over the head with a comic book by a very freaked out child, who then proceeded to grab the box and run away screaming.
He honestly wasn’t sure what was stranger; that, or the crying sword in the river begging nearby crabs to pick it up.
Normally, he’d try slipping into the mansion and finding a nice spot to rest, but at this point, the fewer people, the better. Kaa slithered up a nearby tree, pulling himself up into the branches. Covered by leaves, he was about to lay his head down when the sound of flapping wings caught his attention. The snake peered out between the leaves, watching as a determined-looking falcon landed on the ground.
…On second thought, maybe one more person wouldn’t be so bad…
Pet Shop snapped his head from side to side, eyes sweeping across the ground in search of any sort of movement, any sign of an intruder. Nothing so far, but he’d definitely seen something going under the gate. He would have noticed if it had left; did it get inside already? That would just be humiliating…
Out of the corner of his eye, Pet Shop caught sight of the leaves in a nearby tree rustling. A quick zoom in revealed a flash of green moving about, a different shade than the leaves, and covered in… scales?
Oh. From one little worm to a bigger, actual one. Great.
…He’d heard a snake’s scales were surprisingly soft.
…Now how would they work for lining a nest?
There was one way to find out…
Kaa blinked in surprise as the falcon flew off and out of sight. For a moment, he could have sworn he’d been spotted; he was just about to come out and say hello! Then again, he also could have sworn he’d seen icicles on the bird’s talons. Apparently, mirages were more common than he’d thought; he really needed to get out the heat. Maybe going inside the mansion was a better idea after all…
The snake yelped in terror as the falcon burst into the branches with a screech, slipping and falling from the branches as talons glinting with ice barely missed his eyes. Kaa frantically slithered back as the bird glared down from the tree.
“Um… hello!” Kaa grinned nervously, waving his tail. “Issssss that tree yourssssss? Sssssorry, I didn’t know.”
The bird continued to glare.
“I’m Kaa, by the way,” Kaa continued. “What’ssss your name?”
The bird remained silent.
“…Okay…” Kaa awkwardly replied. “Would you mind if I ssssslipped insssssside for a moment? It’ssss ssssscorching out here, and I wassss hoping to cool off…”
The bird’s glare intensified, sending chills down Kaa’s spine. To be honest, it seemed to be getting colder in general. The wind almost seemed frigid at this point…
Kaa shivered as the air grew even colder, lines of ice creeping across the ground towards him. Behind the falcon, a skeletal, six-limbed bird had appeared, empty eye sockets filling with red light as it screeched. Trying to pretend not to notice the skeletal horror of a Stand, Kaa returned the falcon’s glare.
Their eyes met-
And Pet Shop’s eyes widened in surprise as the snake’s filled with spirals. Beautiful, enticing rainbows swirled about, demanding his attention, and he craned his neck to follow them. Little by little, his thoughts grew fuzzy, a colorful haze creeping through his head. A closer look was in order, but still, he hesitated. It reminded him, somewhat, of one of his master’s powers. And if it was hypnosis…
Pet Shop struggled to look away, or shut his eyes, but he couldn’t seem to manage, his head and eyes twitching with the effort. Slowly, he managed to narrow his eyes into a glare, Horus readying icicles behind him. Just a few shots and-
The falcon’s eyes shot wide open as a second pair of swirling eyes appeared next to the snake. Behind him, Horus’s icicles crumbled to bits as he struggled to think, Kaa’s colors sweeping through his sight. He... he needed to look away from the snake and his Stand, ignore the pretty colors and how nice it would be to let them wash over him-
NO! He was not going to be controlled by some feather-brained worm!
A scaly tail stroked his back, and the bird stiffened. W-When had… oh, that was nice… those humans weren’t cuckoo, this felt softer than his feathers… The tail patted and pet, rubbing in all the right places, and Pet Shop stifled a moan.
“Sssssuch a good birdie,” Kaa chuckled. “Keep ssssstaring, pet.”
Pet Shop smiled, shuddering with bliss. Something about this just felt right, following commands and getting praised for it. The snake even knew his name, had a short affectionate version of it; he wasn’t his master… but praise was praise… and he’d always thought a job well done had its own rewards. So if the job here was staring into pretty colors… how much better would the reward be?
And why was he resisting it?
The bird zoomed in on the colors, his beak falling open in awe. They were so much better with a closer look, somehow soothing and exciting all at once as they swept his thoughts aside. Every bit of tension, of annoyance, of bloodlust seemed to evaporate, his entire body relaxing as Horus dissipated. The snake bobbed his head, and the bird followed suit, unwilling to let the colors leave his sight. Kaa swayed from side to side, and Pet Shop mimicked his motions; a touch of the tail, and he happily swung his hips in circles. Kaa beckoned him closer, and the falcon fluttered to the ground without a thought, strutting towards the snake with wings outstretched and a silly smile.
Pet Shop hopped up a stairway of coils, mindlessly marching across loop after loop of the snake’s body. He soon reached the end, a scaly tail stopping him with a tap to the beak. The tail scratched him under the chin, and Pet Shop happily cooed, his tailfeathers twitching as his tongue flopped out. A coil rose up under his wings, and the brainwashed bird laid them there, allowing the tail to wrap around them. With a motion, the two began their dance, Kaa swaying to and fro as he twirled his bird, Pet Shop hopping about as he swung his hips, jerking his head from side to side along with the snake, shaking his tailfeathers behind him. Kaa took him into a long spin, Pet Shop’s spiraling eyes never leaving his as the snake’s body wrapped around him.
The falcon found himself up to his chest in coils, and then Pet Shop’s pleasure really began. Scales stroked through feathers, cushiony coils compressing and caressing in a massage that had the bird moaning in delight. Kaa’s trail traced across his chest, a slow touch that sent shivers down his spine. The tail moved to his head, and with a few pats, Pet Shop was happily panting, his tailfeathers wagging behind him. Why had he ever tried fighting this? Kaa’s colors were beautiful, flooding him with warm, fuzzy, tingly bliss; Kaa’s coils were the comfiest thing he’d ever felt, every touch of that tail heaven. He’d never felt so good, so relaxed, so loved in his life! And he owed it all to this snake…
Pet Shop had started drooling by the time the snake spoke up. “That’ssssss a good birdie. You want to be good ssssso badly, don’t you? You want to follow commandsssss, do your duty, and obey your masssster. There’ssssss no need to think or choosssse; your masssster isssss happy to handle thosssse burdensssss. You can sssssimply focussss on being a good birdie, a cute, cuddly little pet. A good birdie getssss praisssse and pampering, cuddlessssss, coilssssss and colorssssss asssss they ssssserve with a sssmile and ssssswirly eyessss. Food, protection, entertainment, play – you’ll provide it all and more for me, won’t you? I’ll be your massssster, and you my pressssscioussss pet.”
Eyes swirling with color, drool dripping from his beak, tailfeathers wagging a mile a minute, Pet Shop eagerly nodded with a shriek. “Kyaaaah! (I’ll obey! Owl do anything for you – protect, play, anything! All my thoughts’ll fly the coop! I’m cute and cuddly! I’m your precious Pet!)
A tug on the neck, and with a PING! and a screech of ecstasy, Pet Shop broke into the biggest, goofiest grin of his life.
Kaa sighed happily as he stroked his new pet, the falcon happily cooing in his coils. It was always adorable once they succumbed – drooling, dopey, and devoted. Getting hit by that arrow was the best thing that ever happened to him; with Pet The Dog, he could hypnotize anyone, turn the fiercest fighters into the most snuggly servants, his very touch sending them further into trance. His latest pet would be useful; hunter, transport, pillow, air conditioner – there were so many possibilities, so much fun to be had! He had to admit, given their introduction, he hadn’t thought the bird could talk; now that he did, though…
Kaa cleared his throat. “What’s your name, pet?”
The falcon cawed. “Kaaw! (You know it, Master! Pet Shop!)”
Kaa blinked in surprise. First time he’d ever gotten a pet where “pet” was actually in the name. Fun coincidence, that.
“What a wonderful name!” Kaa chuckled. “Sssssso, how are you feeling, my fine feathered friend?”
Pet Shop gave an eager screech. “Gyooooeee! (Flappier than ever, Master!)”
“Ssssssplendid,” the snake smiled, nuzzling his catch, a coil squeezing out a happy caw. “Now, why were you looking at me like that earlier, hmm?”
The cheery reply caught him off guard. “Kaw! (I was going to gobble you up like a tasty worm!)”
Kaa winced. “Oooooh… You’re cssssssertainly not going to do that now, correct? You’re jussssst a sssssillly, sssssnuggly little hatchling, after all.”
The bird squawked indignantly. “Kyaah kaaw nii kyaaah! (Never, Master! I'm your fuzzy, fluffy little Pet! You're my roost, my MASTER, my World! I'm cooped up in cuddly coils, and I love you for it!)
“Awwwww!” Kaa grinned, starting up his spirals as he gave his Pet a quick kiss on the beak. “That’sssss a good boy. You should ssssspeak up more often, be your ssssssilly, punny sssssself. You’re ssssso cute that way…”
Pet Shop gave an adoring coo, a blush visible through his feathers as he replied. “Kaaaaw… (GIadly, Master! Owl talk ‘til you can’t tell me from a parrot, entertain until you’re crowing with pride!)”
Kaa snickered, spirals still going strong. “Good Pet! You’re going to be a friendly falcon from now on. No more indissssscriminate attacking, hmmm?”
His Pet eagerly nodded. “Gyaaah! (No more indiscriminate attacking!)”
Kaa pet the bird, Pet Shop practically melting into his coils. “Sssssuch a ssssswift learner! Perhapssss you’ll get lesssss injuriesssss now; I asssssume that’ssssss where you picked up that icsssssy ssssscar?”
The blissfully brainwashed bird managed to moan out a reply. “Kaaw… Kakaaw… Nyah… (I was in a fowl fight with a little dog. He got in a cheep shot.)”
The snake smirked. “Tell me more about thissssss dog…”

I knew about the ban, and about him being overpowered as all heck, but never really thought about just HOW crazy good he was. Just saw a video highlighting everything he can do... and I'm starting to wonder if whoever came up with his moveset got confused partway through and thought they were trying to make a superboss. Just... holy cow, no wonder he's been banned for ages!
