Look. Stephen King is a modern horror "master". and fine if you like that genera and the droll boredom reading essentially the same book over and over and over again. But a hundred years from now I guarantee that he will not hold up to the literary masters, such as Alexandre Dumas, Charles Dickens, The Bronte sisters and so forth. I've read some of his earlier publishing's and they weren't that great to begin with. Unfortunately his writing has not changed since he started. to me hes like the 1970's version of Stephenie Meyer. Completely forgettable characters, completely forgettable storyline, no creativity in setting (Maine...just about all his books take place in Maine). Sorry. I have to stand by my statement, angry face or not.
b-but my angry face was intimidating :( I agree with you SOMEWHAT I don't like most of his books personally. I like his novel CELL which I believe is literary genius. I also love and hate his epic called The Dark Tower, and the characters in that series are far from forgetable. Other than that you are right Stephen King's writing drags on for far too long however not all his books are bad in my opinion. Also I have yet to read Charles Dickens though I have one of his books which looks very interesting.
I think the point is... that the person that the piece was intended for, just likes Stephen King.
No one said he was astounding, or that you had to like the guy... just that's what -she- likes. She's entitled to liking what she wants. That's the point of the free world... D:
