Don't mistake this upload for activity spiking, I've had this lying around for a year or two and finally decided it was worth uploading after making sure it was okay with the relevant parties.
This indulgence in species exploration from a popular television show comes from another of my efforts in collaborative storytelling (aka textual roleplaying), and in part was inspired by the character furthest right, a young Kineceleran named SK-9, created by a mutual of mine. The idea of the scenario was that characters of myself and two other mutuals would have a "first contact" encounter with this little guy when weird science (not the film or Oingo Boingo song) ends up stranding him on earth, only for further weird science borne from a hidden device carried by the lad would result in our own drastic transfigurations into the species depicted above. Shenanigans would then ensue.
The scenario didn't quite work out as depicted, both in terms of the exact location of the changes or the fact the collaborative effort stalled and prematurely ended before the scene could fully unfold, so the potential of these ventures has, as of now, not been realized. Despite this and my own regrets that the story was stillborn, I figure by now that this amount of effort I put into creating a piece that was originally just meant for reference visuals for description writing shouldn't be left to languish in chatlogs or my own documents.
Beyond my usual haphazard methods of drawing and coloring this artwork (I am definitely not doing these professionally or efficiently), designing the three forms that weren't my mutual's preexisting character were remarkable. With the multitude of variants the "Ben 10" franchise has created for its characters and species via artstyle changes, garment swaps and reboots, there was a lot that potentially had to be narrowed down here. My main intent ended up mixing the design aesthetics of the AF/UA and OV artystles to various degrees for both clothing and creature traits, with care for personalization based on what each mutual was hoping for with their form. It was tedious yet engaging getting these forms out, and I hope they still find appreciation with the output I made for the effort, regardless of how the overall venture turned out.
Anyways, after all that, this amateur-grade looking color splash is now uploaded out here for people to look at briefly before moving on with your day. Enjoy and critique to your hearts' contents.

Hi, Alpha here - I remember seeing this artwork and got so hyped. I would be loving to revisiting this concept once again eventually - and would love to do it again when everyone has their lives together. It's something I really miss doing as a group collab and roleplaying and everyone with their unique styles I would love to jump back in whenever people are good.
I am sorry for the paragraph but I just got a memory spike over this. Sadly it did not last long but I did love the context.

Life is life, it all matters on how to work with it. As you probably can see on Discord, I am kind of slow on them due to how I prefer to do other things now and work on my own mental health. But feel free to ping me and whomever ya want if you wish to try a stab at a group RP again - and I will try my best. I have to manage other plot shiz at the same time and I crave socialization on VRC so... yeh.
