Mika pulled some strings to get one of her friends placed on color guard duty. When the young knight found out he bemoaned it as a boring, tedious, and uncomfortable task. However, his feelings changed quickly when he realized just how close he'd be to the duchess of Bastet. A smile and winking glance from the radiant and beloved monarch would have him thanking Mika later.
The winner of the Sneptember color poll! Not quite finished in time for Sneptember, but I was glad to get a chance to do a full color pic with Iva. I almost did a very basic and simple background for this piece, but after re-watching Dune Part 1 last week, I had extravagant royal processions on the mind and decided to go in a different direction with it. I got a little help from Stable Diffusion to block out the scene! I think it really paid off, and I ended up pushing this picture a lot further and putting a lot more work in than I originally thought I was going to.

Curious, why does the Dutchess dress in a flowing robe and barefeet when everyone else in your series seems fully armored or dressed (a mix of knights and space travel)? Is she a spiritual leader trying to contrast from her modern era? Just a personal taste in fashion or continuing old traditions? She's very pretty and looks really nice in her attire.
In House Bastet, beauty is associated with power, so the people like for their duchess to look beautiful as a symbol of her strength as a leader. Technically the military is under her command, although she herself does not dress in a militaristic fashion because she is not a fighter or in the military, and she doesn't want to present herself as someone who fears being attacked so she wouldn't be wearing armor. The way she prefers to present herself is as someone who brings peace and prosperity, and the warriors of House Bastet dress in a way to project their military might and fighting prowess (while still accommodating their cultural ethos about beauty). She also walks barefoot in many instances as a symbol of her closeness to the land that she rules over, at least within the palace (obviously there are a lot of situations where this would not be practical so she'd be wearing footwear).
Thanks for the clarification. Still, even dressed like that it wouldn't be surprising seeing her taking down an enemy assailant with a swift kick or or choking them our with her robe ribbons or legs. Perhaps she has well-trained staff that keep her on her toes or knows how to use martial weapons over hi tech weapons.
Curious! My own headcanon was - she is dressed like this because she is top royalty. This sparse flowing attire and bare paws are what Bastet nobility were wearing milenia ago. Thus following tradition. While modern military are dressed in modern military uniform. That's not unlike how real life royalty here on Earth officially dress. See Saudi or British.
When i read that you had been inspired by dune part 1 to (re)draw this, this thought came to mind: Ivanna as Jessica, Mika as Chani, Harry as Paul. Just be ready for the evil Drogahri with there best troops dressed in misleading uniforms, OR your going to be forced to leave the planet by the emperor's order and you will return to fight the good canines! Heh heh heh.
