Number four in my Ladies of Arda series: This is Thuringwethil, played by
Thuringwethil was a Maia and also a Vampire. Thuringwethil, meaning "The Woman of Shadows", was an evil Maia spirit of Melkor, who took on the form of a huge Vampire bat with iron claws. During the First Age of the Sun, Thuringwethil was one of the many shape-shifting monsters inhabiting Sauron's tower on the Isle of Werewolves in Beleriand. She flew between Sauron and Melkor carrying messages and doing evil deeds. After the overthrow of Sauron and the Werewolves, her power seems to have been destroyed. Her shaping cloak was taken and was used by Luthien as a means of entering Angband.

Great art! And I love the wings. and the 'hungry' look she has.
And yet, I thought Thuringwethil was supposed to be a terrifying monster, and your version of
Calientra as Tolkien Vampire makes it look like she'd have the Men and Elves lining up at her front door to be nibbled on. Oh well, maybe she looks scarier when she puts her "game face" on.
It's perfectly lovely, thank you so much for showing it here.

Yeah, had she been in the movies somewhere I'm sure she would have been scarier, there really aren't too many pictures of her out there though to go from though and she's sometimes described as being an actual bat. I just always think of vampires and evil characters being somewhat seductive, because a beautiful appearance helps gain trust much easier than a scary one. And since Cali is kinda seductive herself, I just went with the "pretty vampire" look here. ^_^
Yeah I think I know which one you're talking about, there's a pic in one of my books of Luthien with the bat wings, she's facing away from the viewer and she has her arms held out, with the wings being attached to her arms. From what you can see of her though, she looks like a normal elf other than the wings.
I tried doing a google search on "Thuringwethil" but all that came up was a bunch of pictures of goth girls and some band. lol Nothing from actual Tolkien art.
