"Stop driver! Stop!" Whistled Peter Sam, his wheels wobbling with fright, "somebody has fallen off the cliffside!"
The driver and fireman looked out Peter Sam's cab.
"it's only a base jumper," chuckled the driver.
"A what?!" Asked Sir Handel in the sheds that evening.
"A base jumper," said Peter Sam, who was still a bit rattled by the whole thing, "they are people who dress in funny clothing, and jump off cliff or mountain sides, then parachute their way down!"
"Who in their right mind woulda do sumthin' like that," grunted Duncan.
"Thrill seekers," replied Peter Sam, "at least that's what my driver calls them."
"Foolish, is what I call them," said Duke as he puffed in, "One of these 'base jumpers' scared the day lights out of my passengers on my way here. Such wreckless behavior would never suite His Grace."
Sir Handel said nothing, he just looked at his buffers, remembering the time he almost fell off a mountain and Duke had to pull him back onto the rails.
"As long as they stay clear of the lines," chimed in Skarloey, "and nobody is getting hurt, then I say let them have their fun."
"PAH!" Snorted Duncan, rolling his eyes. He found the whole idea quite ridiculous.
Just yet another short story idea I had one day.
