A Friendly Interruption:
Like a set of clothes, Lupus needed a change. Awaking this morning, he chose to adorn a new size at six feet. A fraction of his usual eighty-three foot self. A pleasant glow from the morning sun washed over Lupus' snow white fur as he marched through the lush vegetation. Great spires of trees surrounded the casually dressed wolf who treaded across the dirt path. Whilst, old branches and leaves decorated the dirt path, making it ever more difficult to travel quietly. Still, Lupus couldn't help but part his lips and take in the oxygen rich air in a sigh
"F-Finally, a place to write" the wolf mumbled, bathing in the glow of the sun that diced through the tree cover. His white furred appendage swished side-to-side, displacing the air like a gentle pendulum.
A set of crunches beneath the wolf's pads sent him flinching, rushing to turn around to see if anything would emerge from the shadows. Those tender ears twitched, adjusting to his surroundings. Except, Lupus never broke pace as he stumbled across the earth and grass to the nearest clearing. To 'The Spot'.
Lupus had discovered it many daylight cycles ago, an orphan oak wood tree upon a slab of earth, tilting at a fifteen degree angle. No one had claimed it, he was the first. It was perfectly placed in the centre of the forest, adjacent to the hillside and vibrant metropolis. A jackpot when it comes to inspiration, a writer's fuel.
Raising a palm to ruffle a branch aside, Lupus blue eyes latched onto that tree, and smiled. Poking his head out, he searched the clearing to ensure it was vacant before walking out of the woods. Beneath the wolf's leather pads, the compact grass was fresher and greener than anything for miles. It felt like he was walking into the heart of the forest, and it welcomed the wolf's gentle presence.
"P-Perfect" Lupus whispered, reaching into his pocket to pull out a notebook. A book brown leather casing, a string, and brittle paper. Undoing the knot, the wolf turned and sat down against the tree roots, opening the book in the process.
"Right…right, hmmm, what should I…?" The wolf paused, too lost in thought, had drowned out the eerie booms in the distance. "...do?"
Slouching down, Lupus picked up a pencil in the other side pocket, and started to write. The tip danced across the paper, turning thoughts into a visual display. All the while, Lupus' eyes looked upwards to the surroundings. Seeing the paper or not when he wrote did not matter to the wolf, he could do both. You could call it a talent, or a skill that came with practice. Lupus still smiled when he did either. Those lush eyes examined the field of green, and blanket of blue sky overhead with a wag whilst speaking.
"Nature's carpet welcomed my form…hmmm what else?" Lupus mumbled, raising his pencil to tap its rubber tip against his cranium. "Oh wait…!"
As a light bulb appeared between his ears, he rushed to press the pencil onto the paper before a thundering boom rocked the ground. A quake that crackled the earth, sending swarms of birds fleeing above the clouds. It left Lupus speechless as his fight or flight instincts kicked in as another tremor rippled beneath his butt.
"W…what…" about to stand up, turning to find the source, a thick golden serpent of fur and flesh wrapped around Lupus. A brown spear for a tip rested on the ground a few inches from the wolf, wrapping around him tighter.
The small canine was spared no moment to realise his predicament before the snake lifted upwards, past the tree layer. Higher and higher the fleshy snake hoisted the wolf, maneuvering him to greet something that defied imagination.
"Z-Zahn!" Lupus projected out, staring at a giant carnivorous golden snout. Behind the pointed horn, a red and blue eye focused on the canine secured in his tail. A smile widened across his maw , exposing the neon flesh inside his mouth.
"Hey there, lil one. Nice to see ya, as always" the fox-dragon hybrid cooed down, extending a claw tip scratch behind Lupus' ear. The wolf released a murr as he tilted his head to greet the claw.
"How…how did you know I was here?" Lupus asked, raising a hand to rub the base of Zanh's horn. The titan released a rumbling chuckle, compensated by the expansion of his chest.
"Because, I wanted to check out my lil buddy writing. I caught a glimpse earlier, so I wanted to drop in" Zach cooed in his deep throated voice, angling his snout to press into the wolf's belly.
"You, you are a sweetheart. Thank you" the wolf replied, chuckling as Zanh's snout rubbed into him.
"As are you, now, you wanna write with my tail holding you?" The colossus gave a wink to the canine, beginning to crouch down to sit.
A heavy thump radiated out across the surroundings, rustling the tree branches around as Zanh placed his butt on the earth. Maneuvering his feet around in a cross legged position, he lowered the wolf into the centre. With his tail holding Lupus in a tight grip, the fox dragon beamed with delight downwards.
"T-Thank you, you are a good friend"
"As are you" the dragon purred softly, letting the vibrations ease the tension inside the wolf's anatomy. Lupus looked up Zahn, flashing a tooth-filled smile and began to write, his tail wagging excitedly.
