A plate full of yummy cookies from the kitchens of  Arielle certainly will brighten up your day.

This is a recipe from a cookbook my mom has from like...i wanna say the 70's. Originally the cookies were supposed to be banana nut cookies, but I'm not a big fan of nuts, so I experimented and went with Chocolate chips. They came out pretty good.

Versatile Cookie Mix

4 cups all-purpose or whole wheat flour [self rising]
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups shortening

mix flour and sugars. cut in shortening until mixture
resembles fine crumbs. Place desired amounts of mix in
containers. seal tightly, label and refrigerate no longer
than 10 weeks

Banana Cookies

2 1/2 cups cookie mix
1/2 cup mashed banana [1 banana]
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup chocolate chips

heat oven to 375 degrees. mix all ingredients. Drop
dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart
onto ungreased cookie sheet. bake until light brown,
12 to 15 minutes. immediately remove from cookie sheet
