Skyfall dropped the last .455 cartridge into the cylinder then she closed it and raised the revolver and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened and the unicorn reminded herself that this particular revolver was single action only. She lowered pistol and with her free hand she thumbed the hammer back.
Much to her annoyance the revolver failed to fire again. It was then she remembered that unlike many revolvers this one actually had a manual safety. Muttering under her breath she thumbed it off.
Once again she raised the revolver and aligned its sights. Skyfall took a moment and then gently pressed the trigger. The revolver's high bore axis tried to flip the pistol in her hand. Fortunately the top part of the revolver sliding back quickly absorbed a good portion of the recoil. The motion recocked the hammer and made it ready for the next shot. As this happened the mare thought.
Well at least this thing doesn't throw cartridge cases back into your face. Unlike that infernal device that her Highness tested recently. Link
The revolver roared six times; then silence returned to the range. Skyfall lowered the revolver and noted that the process of loading and unloading the revolver was similar to her regular carry revolver. Link
Closing the action. Skyfall looked over at the creator of this mechanical fetish. They looked at her expectant eyes.
"Well ma'am. What do you think? Could you feel the advantage of the self-cocking action? I've worked really hard to optimize the quality of the trigger pull."
Skyfall set the revolver down on the shooting bench. Slowly she removed the cotton from her ears and looked at the mare who'd dreamed up this wonder. She took a deep breath and then replied.
"It's a fascinating concept, but it feels like a solution in search of a problem. If I was competing in formal pistol competition then perhaps it might be useful, but it has very little to offer over a standard revolver or one of the new self loading pistols."
She glanced back at the track slot on the bottom part of revolver and frowned. "And the design appears to be suspectible to allowing foreign debris into cocking action. If it was to become fouled I fear it would render the pistol nonfunctional."
The pistol's creator struggled to keep a smile on her face. "Well besides that how do you feel about the pistol?"

For anyone who's interested the pistol Skyfall is firing is a Webley-Fosbery revolver. Othais and May at C&Rsenal have a videos about this pistol. Link, Link along with Ian McCollum at Forgotten Weapons. Link, Link

There are times when over-thinking the plumbing does make it easier to stop up the drain, as Scotty puts it. In the case if the Webley-Fosbery, I gotta agree. A novel idea, but one fraught with issues.
A conventional revolver is magnitudes simpler and more reliable!
At least Skyfall didn’t have cleavage full of hot brass, unlike poor Luna... xDD

A few years ago, I watched several Forgotten Weapons videos about the Webley-Fosbery revolver and, although that weapon was more complex than a normal revolver, I always liked its design, as well as the way it worked, regardless that said weapon had a issue here and there due to its own design. Leaving that aside, I must say that Skyfall still looks great here; good work. :3
