And one more! I have been following this artist on Twitter for some time, and she does amazing KFP art, particularly of Tai Lung. So when she opened for commissions, I knew I had to ask her to do illustrations as well. Plus it would allow me to get pictures done faster (since she has a much shorter queue and wait time than WFA), and I knew there were certain topics, genres, or types of images that this artist probably would not want to do and/or which WFA was particularly good at, so by splitting the pics between them I could get all the illustrations I was hoping for. What I didn't know was that this artist happened to also be a fan of A Different Lesson! "There are no accidents." ^_^
So this is another scene from Chapter 37, preceding (and in fact the main impetus for) the chi exorcism by Shifu. After having defeated the Wu Sisters on Wu Dan with the aid of Tigress and Viper, and rescuing the kidnapped Mr. Ping, Po stays behind while the others go back to the Valley to help with Tai Lung's trial. And since he had learned some time prior to this that he has the ability to control water with his chi, the Dragon Warrior calls on it to cleanse the Pool of Sacred Tears of the corruption and dark chi with which the Big Bad had tainted it. He does so by calling on all his happiest and purest memories and emotions, all tied of course to those he cares most about.
The image here was intended to be a homage both to Yuna's first sending in Final Fantasy X and the scene in the old 90's X-Men cartoon where Jean Grey as the Phoenix healed the M'Kraan Crystal by drawing on her emotions toward and conceptions of her teammates (specifically by envisioning each of them in positions on the Kabbalah's Tree of Life). I also asked the artist to depict Po in a similar position and pose to when he fully came into his powers as the Dragon Warrior when facing Kai in the Spirit Realm in KFP3, since this was basically my version of the same achievement.
