Oh I loooove traditional media, it’s just that it takes soooo long to do, and I don’t know if I’d ever be willing to do it for a commission option anymore. People just don’t want to pay the price an artist would properly have to charge for it to be worth it for an artist to do. I’m so touched you like traditional though. It means the world.
I have traditional media works by Roochak, Sonderjen, Dana Simpson, Daphne Lage, and Terrie Smith framed on my wall, along with a bunch of old pre-2010 convention sketchbook commissions. I'm old.
If I could get together the hundreds of dollars necessary for a physical media piece, it would probably be of Stacy in a stereotypical 1980s getup.

Just lovely, you. Just lovely. I've had a tough day (not at all bad, just demanding) and the texture of those flowers is something to sink into, like velvet and balm.
It just happens to go particularly well with the music I'm listening to, the celestial and elegiac All-Night Vigil "Vespers" of Sergey Rachmaninoff. Choral music as only Russians can do it: soaring, sublime, and anchored by the shuddering growl of huge hairy basses. And curiously, even though it's profoundly religious music, it seemed to summon an intense spiritual longing from the supposedly atheistic and materialist heart of the New Soviet Man. The best recordings are still from the USSR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5E.....84&index=3

I used to HATE HATE HATE doing flowers in school because gods we are forced to draw them, vases, and freaking wrinkly fabric more than ANYTHING ELSE in art classes. But now? It’s just like meditation. I always feel good while doing it.
Oooooo and I do like this. Thank you!

Oh part of what I was trying to do was towards the outside have the values more flat, so like the outward areas of most of her hair and the leaves are more simply colored with very little shading, kind of like a first wash, and then the more inward you go, the more attention was attempted to be paid to contrast. But if you have any ideas how I can make it more obvious that that’s what I’m trying to do, I’m all ears! I love watercolor washes, and I love the idea of having portraits that show stages of them.
