I was inspired to draw this scene after discussing the very cool imagery that was pulled off in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
I don't hear a lot of people talk about this, but it's a common Shinto practice to put blessings on inanimate objects as a way to ward off evil spirits or to seal away evil spirits. This is done by tying a rope around the object and attaching ofuda (slips of paper that contain a blessing written by a Shinto priest or the name of a Shinto god) to the ropes around the object receiving the blessing. Knowing this I found it so impactful to see that this sword was literally being tied down to the ground instead of the ropes being around the sword itself. Very fitting imagery to find in a prison that was made to contain Hyrule's biggest threats.
This drawing took my over 8 hours to complete and I still see errors in it, but whatever, I put too much time into it so I'm gunna post it.
