Orc Cosplay 2022: Idaho Renaissance Faire [01]
Pretty awesome weekend; tons of photos, great costumes, good fun. Weather was way too hot, but I finally got smart and just stayed under trees for shade.

Gahah, many thanks for that buddy! Lots of padding and cords—and liberal use of liquid stitching to keep it all together! Definitely had help with the bodysuit though, was a huge part of the project and I'm not at all an expert. I'll say Etsy is an amazing place, with lots of amazing artists, designers, crafters and suppliers!
This latest version of the costume was definitely a lot more privileged than my first version back in 2018. Bought the chainmail outright because I literally wouldn't have the time to ever finish it if I made it myself, and the gambeson (and the fabric gorgot that I wore just because it had a high collar on the back) was also an easy purchase. Still, I'm proud to have made almost everything else from scratch, aside from one or two other items that I just heavily modified.
Having made virtually everything from scratch back in 2018, I have that happy creator/crafter experience, and am glad to be able to support artists and sellers elsewhere. Similar principle to my Render stuff—I've bought and paid for a lot of assets to use in my renders, and while I have the skill, tools and resources to make everything from scratch, I still value the time I save by buying assets, while knowing that my money is going to support these artists who are creating awesome products and (hopefully!) following their passion...!

Many thanks buddy!! Legitness was absolutely the concept I wanted to convey...!
...which is why I totally cheated and just bought a chainmail shirt, because I needed the authenticity, and my priority was budgeting my time more than my money, lol. Still, I mentioned in a comment above, I'm satisfied with the amount of work I personally put into crafting everything else—various other clothing parts, all of the armor, heavy modifications to the mask, etcetera. :P
The heat was definitely the worst part—it has to be around 18°C / 65°F for me to be able to regulate my temperature at all in the suit. It's really well insulated, but that means the inside of the suit quickly matches my personal body temperature. Having the sun on me, or hot weather in general, just causes a baking-effect...
However, the body suit is fitted to my size and posture, so it really just helps with providing the broad shoulders and massive arms! Very easy to move around in, and I made the armor and such easy to put on with velcro straps or just sticking my head through a hole in the armor, lol. Good mobility and mostly uninhibited movement—I try to be careful with the boots as I couldn't figure out a preferred method for attaching the plates to the boots, and too much physical abuse would probably start breaking straps or glued components.

Definitely took some time to put together! My first version from 2018 is pretty do-able for around $300 honestly...! ($175+ for supplies, $125+ for tools). Foam and paints, blankets and pants—the most expensive things would be the mask and the tools needed to cut and build everything...!
But I really do appreciate the compliment buddy. It's definitely evolved, and I can't take full credit anymore what with having the privilege to buy some of the more complex/time-consuming items, but the bottom line is these things are certainly possible to achieve!
