The usage of the 'Mask Of Conflicting Energies' means that this is a lightning arrow that deals acid damage, but otherwise acts as a lightning strike? It's better/faster then a regular acid arrow spell that's for sure. The mask's usage also good for many minor things:

1. could only learn two out of the four elemental types (fire-ice acid-lightning) but can deal all 4 type of damage, tho' knowing all 4 types provides variety, and unique spell mixtures.

2. The nature of the attack can be hidden, like the damage type or the speed of it, since it's a converted spell. If someone recognizes the mask, it's slightly easier to counter the spells, but if not, the expected shot may surprise the attacked opponent. Still, it's good for deception attacks too.

I am still wondering why the mask has gem-lenses. It would be so cool, if those were Gems of True Sight, as that would give the mask wearer a clear picture whatever is being observed. Would make it easier to spot illusions, invisible foes, maybe even traps...
