You know how, in Final Fantasy, there's always a character named Cid? He has the same name, and he tends to fulfill the same role in every story (usually the guy from whom you get the airship), but it's a different character every single time?
That's more or less the deal with Terastas. Whenever a video game tasks me with creating a character to play as or a "fan OC" is warranted, I tend to think of it, not as myself in a different form, but as another character entirely whose personality, beliefs, etc. will be shaped by that world and no others I may have played in before, with the only things they have in common being my tendencies to gravitate towards certain options, and the name.
This is something I've been meaning to do for a while (and I apologize if it's half-assed -- I proofread it while loaded with antihistamines). It will be updated periodically as other fandoms become known and/or I figure out how the hell I'm going to handle a current one.
Just a few clarifications based on repeating terms you might see:
#1: Deva Xenelis, Verity Wallace, and the Terastas from their realm belong to an organization known as the Special Associates. It is not officially confirmed to exist and derives its name from the tendency of partner organizations to refer in incident report documents as having "contracted the assistance of a special associate". The organization chronicles, contains and (whenever possible) normalizes all supernatural forces known to the world.
#2: The various "-verse" terms are nonbinding and just refer to how many realms appears to be related to each other. The only exception is "cosmology", which is a term used to refer to a multiverse where all the realms exist in an assigned order (most commonly the living world and various afterlives).
#3: Since most worlds refer to themselves by the same terms, they differentiate one from the other by the names of individuals, typically the one who spent the most time studying and chronicling it before their arrival. I figured it would be way too far of a stretch for them to know the names of the game, movie, etc. in which they appeared.
If you're at all curious, the worlds alluded to in the database so far are:
#1: The Special Associates' original concept world.
#2: The Forgotten Realms
#3: Pokemon
#4: The Lion King
#5: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
#6: How To Train Your Dragon
#7: Super Mario Bros.
#8: Final Fantasy X
Our real life existence
Digimon
Other Final Fantasies
Aladdin
Elena of Avalor
Raya and the Last Dragon
Gargoyles
Zootopia
The Legend of Zelda
StarFox
Sonic the Hedgehog
The Croods
Scooby-Doo
Paw Patrol
This is not the complete list. It will keep growing (and is pen to suggestions ~_^).
#4: I only do this in fictional worlds that allow for it, otherwise I either skip it or improvise. When playing Dragon Age: Origins, for example, I made an OC Grey Warden and gave the name of Terastas to the dog. Same thing in Endless Ocean: Blue World -- Terastas was the tameable orca in my session.
#5: When Deva, etc. refer to the "humanity" of anthros like themselves, this is because the species homo-sapiens does not exist in their world and "human" is their adjective for animals, anthro or natural alike, who have the elevated cognitive capacity needed to function in a civilization.
#6: Some species are "human" more often than others, and for a long time, "the human being" was just a general concept of what anthropologists generally agree a species that is sentient 100% of the time would resemble. That said, the Associates are well aware that human-free worlds like their own are rare and have started using "human" to refer to the species in their multiverse logs.
If you have any questions, feel free and I'll do my best to answer them.
