Bert, Ralph and Melissa getting ready for the festive season ^^ Today marks the 30th anniversary of when the very first special of The Raccoons, "The Christmas Raccoons" was first broadcast - which was on December 17th 1980. And I think it is still a pretty good christmas special too ^^

The Raccoons was actually one of Canada's most popular shows in it's prime because of it's characters and environmentally conscious messages. Many episodes even had very subtle messages in clever ways. There are several episodes like the clip shows that really aren't good but you cannot throw it all into one basket.
Give it a chance - you might just like it. ;)

A cute work
The Christmas Raccoons is a cute special, but I wouldn't call it OUTSTANDING...I definitely wouldn't recommend it for someone just getting into the show as one of the first episodes of the show you should watch. I think it suffers a bit from some of the characters being underdeveloped, which is to be expected, really, since it was the first time these characters ever appeared on TV. Ralph and Melissa in particular; in this special they seem pretty goofy and hyper, just like Bert! It's pretty hard to tell the three apart in this special, personality-wise, that is. It's not a BAD special, I don't think, but I don't find it to be terribly outstanding. Still a cute work, though
I've actually thought about reviewing all the specials and episodes over on deviantArt.

If you do review them I'll be interested to read what your thoughts were
I think that after 'Lets Dance!' this was the weakest special; whereas 'The Raccoons And The Lost Star' was edgy and it was fun seeing the setting switch to something more jungly, and 'The Raccoons on Ice' was fun and heartwarming
