When a large-scale accident wipes out most of the town, a snake resident must deal with the effects of the radiation as well as move to a new city. How will he fare with the locals? This is a rather short backstory commission for Mouse2821 from Instagram.

Radioactive Snake

Tango sighed while sitting behind the wheel of his gray Toyota Supra (A90), stuck in traffic. It is another busy for the snake while he is on his way to his workplace, but the traffic in the city can be infuriating at times. Right now, the male python is stuck in traffic, sighing out of clear annoyance.

"Why is there so much traffic at a time like this? I need to reach that powerplant!" At a time like this where being at the nuclear plant is important, Tango is stuck in a traffic jam. And the snake had more than enough incentive to make a beeline for the place; there have been a few incidents of instability regarding the place, but it has even cleaned up though. Still, one can't always let their guard down.

Though Tango is beginning to grow irritated, the male python keeps his cool as much as he can, trying not to go overboard. Still, morning rush hour traffic can be frustrating to deal with at times. He has yet to blare his car horn, but the snake knows he is already running out of time.

After a bit of time, traffic begins to start moving and Tango anxiously hits the accelerator, proceeding to get moving. However, he dives around traffic in order to avoid a near-miss collision where he blows his horn this time.

Unfortunately, when Tango begins to pull off, it is already too late. There is a massive explosion that occurs on the horizon, causing even the ground to shake. Even worse, nuclear energy is being released as a result of the meltdown-mixed explosion. In the midst of the chaos, Tango passes out completely, darkness overtaking him all of a sudden.

The ball python stares at his reflection in the mirror after waking up inside of a hospital room. But after being discharged, Tango suddenly finds himself secreting poison. At first, Tango thought nothing of it but after testing out his own fangs by biting into a wall, he rears back in shock upon finding a strange clear liquid oozing down the wall! "What the?! Is that venom?! You mean, I'm a poisonous snake now!?"

Engrossed further by the new revelation, Tango freezes in realization. He used to be nonvenomous before the nuclear meltdown. But now, since the explosion and aftershocks, the ball python is now a poisonous snake. This brings him to another discovery, making him freeze again in realization. He then groans upon coming to grips with his new poisonous state. "How will everyone perceive me now? I don't feel any different, so there's nothing wrong with me physically; I only gained a new ability! There shouldn't be that much of a difference, should there?"

Only time will tell once Tango leaves his house and moves out of the destroyed city.

After grabbing a rental car and moving into the new city, Tango makes his way into a parking lot, pulling the black BMW M5 (E39) into an empty space. Killing the engine, Tango exits the car and begins to make his way inside. He is actually moving to a brand-new apartment complex that was designed for survivors of nuclear accidents. The ball python himself is a survivor, but he isn't affected health-wise by the radiation; the only change he has gotten is the addition of venom in his system which he uses only for defense.

Stepping into the apartment complex, the ball python is instantly recognizable. While approaching the front desk, Tango requests, "I would like a room to stay in, please. I can still pay for it."

The receptionist, a female arctic fox, states to the snake, "The rooms are free for now, so you don't have to worry about paying anything! Oh, by the way, you will be staying in Room 3A! It's on the third floor ready for you!"

Accepting the key, Tango thanks the receptionist and begins to depart, making his way towards the stairs to reach his new living space.
