Another work in progress photo - the painting is nearly complete - only a few nitpicks to fix up, paint in a signature, and paint the edges of the canvas for display purposes, and it'll be done.
My great grandmother standing next to a Jaguar XK120. Based on an old family photograph, painted in oils on 30"x40" canvas.

Thank you =)
My goal is to create a large body of work of these types of oil paintings and approach galleries with them. This one in particular however is a gift to my mom and dad, since it is a family picture =)
If I were to auction a piece like this though, the price I would ask would not be inexpensive - they are very large and time consuming..

I'm getting a Beast of Yucca Flats vibe from this picture.
Excellent work. The juxtaposition of the clinical smoothness of the vehicle on the backdrop of impressionistic brushstrokes is what stands out the most to me. If you don't mind me nitpicking, the crest of small rocks behind the subject seems to have a smooth border... might be from the lack of resolution of this scan... yeah, actually upon closer look it /seems/ the outline is appropriately jagged. Mmm... tones. Very lovely use of color here. Appears white, but is actually well-used shades of blue. Gives a very peaceful mood to the piece.
Hope I don't seem like a pedant. I like to think I know something about art and color theory, despite not being a practitioner myself.
