"Phyress.. Please, it doesn't have to be like this.."
"Meru, I told you already... LEAVE. NOW. RUN, YOU FOOL! GET OUT OF HERE!"
I.. I honestly don't even know where to begin with this one, because there's just.. There's SO MUCH about it I love. Schl4fy Did such a mindblowingly great job with it, and it's just, it's honestly just left me speechless everytime I look at it.
I guess we can try to start from the top!
No, Phyress is not about to attack Meru, instead what's she actually trying to do, is get him to leave, before such a thing has a chance of happening. He's not really super in favor of leaving her in this situation though, due to his past trauma and not wanting to risk losing her, so neither side is really in a great position here, which is why I feel the title is actually very fitting. They're both desperate.
Meru is desperately trying to help Phyress, trying to make her come with him, trying to get them both to leave the scene. Trying to talk to her, make her calm down.
While Phyress is desperately trying to protect Meru, trying to protect their home, trying to make him listen and realize he needs to leave, for his own safety, because she knows she's a ticking clock at this point. She might still be in control, but it's only a matter of time, and she's perfectly aware of it.
So this is an idea that's based on a prompt me and Ender have talked about several times on and off through these two beans ship, and it essentially boils down to the above, but caused by some hostile presence, usually something that was hunting/hurting/attacking Meru, with Phyress getting in between them all to protect him, and we end up in this situation where Phyress will start demanding that Meru leaves, before she starts going too far down the spiral and goes up in flames, which will leave us with one very sad noodle when he comes across it later. Essentially, you can think of this as a sorta prelude to something like this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43926959/
That's essentially the path Phyress is on at this time, and she can't really get off it anymore, without considerable effort, which considering they're threatened, isn't going to happen.
All that lore and angst out of the way, I tried making it brief aha, sorry!
Gosh I absolutely LOVE how this turned out! It just looks absolutely incredible and I could probably gush over it for days tbh, it's just so incredibly well made.
The expressions, especially Meru's with his body language, just conveys so much emotion and really honestly makes me feel super bad for, partially because I know what's to come and what his past is, because he's completely helpless in this situation.
Meanwhile Phyress' is initially one of a brooding calmness, before she snaps from the rage building up, and while she's not still going to attack him, she is putting up a horrifying display for him, flaring up as much as she is at this point. While I loooove how she's drawn and depicted, I do feel Meru is the king of this lil' comic!
His look of utter shock and disbelief in the second panel, completely torn on what to do is just, aaaaa, it's just so gooooood! ;;
And the fire just looks so fucking amazing! I LOOOOOOVE the way it's drawn, how it's swirling around her, like a vortex or almost protective aura of sorts, building up more and more, destroying the terrain to give her more of an advantage against her enemies and quite frankly just making her look straight out of a horror movie, she is scary af like this.
The way Meru is illuminated by it just looks incredible, he's super close, probably closer than he'd prefer, and the way he's lit up by it, just looks amazing, especially in the second panel when she really flares up just aaaa, I love it so much ; 3 ;
I absolutely love how they took the prompt, and turned into this small mini comic. It's only two panels, but it just adds SO MUCH to it, it's framed wonderfully and really depicts both sides of the situation and their struggles ;;
So yea, have some angst y'all :3

Absolutely incredible. I've been looking at this pic on and off all day during my work hours, and now that I'm home, I can FINALLY comment on it! Both the story and the art itself are both stunning and compelling. The saturated colors are rightfully bold, and really seem to emphasize the dire situation at play here.
And! thanks to the two comments above, I finally figured out what angst actually means! ..and that it's the word I've basically been searching for all my life to try and describe what art like this makes me feel. I can't believe I'm twenty-seven, and I only JUST now learned it. THAT would've been helpful to know like.. ALL of the years I was in high school. q_q

Understandable, they the artist did such a phenomenal job with it, it's just absolutely insane! And thank you! I didn't go into super depth with Meru's lore, since he's not mine, but the short gist of it, is that at a young age, he watched his crush/love at the time get torn to shreds in front of him, so anything that would cause him to lose another, doesn't sit well with him! Aw my ghaaaaaaad.. It's so sad! And yet I'm always so drawn to things like this. I truly wonder why that is.
Like, I remember back when I made my sona, I specifically said I wouldn't ever give him any of this kind of backstory. He would be happy and carefree, just like me! ..back then..
But since then, a lot has happened to me, and I find myself daydreaming about stuff like this.. What if this or that bad thing happened? And yet I'm still so shy about implementing any of these ideas out of what I can only imagine is just.. cowardice? I.. I don't know. I have this deep desire to see my traumatic ideas come to fruition, but- I always wonder if people even care to see that kind of stuff. Gotta keep the watchers happy, y'know?
Seeing this, and learning about angst today.. is really making me think. I feel inspired. Inspired to.. make mad things happen? Wait.. is this even a good thing? I have so many questions.. I definitely have a new state of mind to explore now, that's for sure.
I will definitely check out both things, yes. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Nothing wrong with having both! Delving into some more serious/angsty art/themes/ideas here and there can be a lot of fun, your character(s) don't have to be only one or the other! Playing with "what if's" AU's can fun thought experiments, I'm currently in the middle of one themed around corruption <:
And actually, I'd personally recommend not worrying about your watchers, just get what you personally want/like. You can't please everyone, and your goal should be to have fun with your characters/ideas and do/explore themes you want to <:
