Guys, the last two months I have absolutely no commissions. YCHes are also not bought. …it used to happen too, but much less often, maybe several times I had no orders for a month, but now it goes on too long and since it s only a way to earn money for me I'm starting to get very nervous. me and my friend have a similar problem, I don’t quite understand what it is connected with, and I’m trying to understand in order to act correctly.
Please ,
if someone of you like a commissioner
know why this happens, let me know !

Inflation. It's caused by the FED (federal reserve) flooding the market with currency that has nothing backing it up (Too much currency, too little money). Too many Federal Reserve Notes chasing too few goods and services. Artwork is a luxury good and luxury is the first to get cut; I'm squeezed too since I sell luxury products (physical). The dollar has lost 98% of its value since 1913 and what value it does still have (2% being the new 100%) is being slashed by 8% every year; it's a FIAT currency at the end of its lifecycle.
Due to the increase in currency supply, goods and services are re-priced accordingly as the increased cost of doing business gets bumped down the manufacturing line. Higher cost to extract raw materials, higher cost to manufacture base goods, and higher cost for me to make a product to sell to the end customer. I forgo some materials and now manufactures get less; I see it in their advertisements in my inbox, they are screaming for money but little is flowing in.
The price of oil also directly affects the cost of EVERYTHING. Yes, EVERYTHING. Having a government that is openly hostile to oil and obstructing the extraction of crude oil means there is LESS oil on the world market and the price of each barrel increases. Higher oil prices means the cost of fuel(s) are higher, the costs of manufacturing fertilizer increases and thus FOOD increases due to both higher costs and LESS food, cost to manufacture plastics increase, ad nauseam. Energy to fuel life and business costs more and high oil means the cost to live is higher. Rather than reopen our own drilling, we have been reduced to BEGGING OPEC and the Saudis to boost their production. Why should they when they are getting filthy rich by selling less product for a higher price?
It's rare I find money to spend on artists and even then it's around $40-$100 per year and that's spent for this year. I there are plenty of books and graphic novels I would like to buy but the money isn't there. Aside from a few well-to-do people, most people have cut luxury from their budgets and put it into gas or food.
Midterms are coming up in a few days (USA / November 8th); we can chose between more catastrophic disaster, or, offsetting the pain of inflation by opening drilling which will reduce the cost to manufacture and transport effectively everything, although that won't fix inflation caused by the FED.
I expect the FED to lose all control over inflation in 2023 and anyone who can't produce and defend their own food will be screwed, but it's not guaranteed.

I dunno how voting red is going to fix anything when the Republican Party's sole purpose in life is to funnel money upwards into politicians' and CEO's pockets, enabling companies to post record profits while laying off more and more workers. Seems like we need a govt that will do its job protecting people, protecting labor, protecting the environment, and not one slavishly chained to modern megacorps' will while also stoking a populist uprising that will lead to the deaths of a lot of minorities (of which you are one, Republicans inexplicably seem to have put furries of all things in their crosshairs too). But sure. Vote for seditionists. This is a good idea.
The only political party I subscribe to is the party of "we the people". I just said opening drilling is not going to fix the FED, which is the source of inflation, but it will reduce the cost of goods and services. When the FED steals value from the American people by printing billions of new Federal Reserve Notes for foreign countries and billions more in stimulus checks then we all end up paying for it many times over down the line; the people having been bribed with their own money. I keep only enough dollars to pay my bills, effectively everything extra goes into hard assets that don't depreciate daily.
That said; I'm fairly used to people wanting me dead; Taliban wanted me dead, the Marxists and union members in r/anti-work want me dead and my business burned -- nevermind that I believe unions have a time and place -- and plenty of people on the right want me dead too for being a furry, the WEF would love nothing more than to cull us useless eaters and breeders clogging up *their* forests, beaches, and lands. Having enemies is just a part of life.
The targeting of furries is a relatively new by-product due to the "woke" mob having infiltrated effectively every education and entertainment institution in America; we are guilty by association. Furries usually mind their own affairs but now that drag queens are on the Disney channel, porn comparable to what I would find at E6 is in elementary schools, well of course people are going to be pissed at their kids being groomed. I'M PISSED. People are looking for anyone to blame and those outside the fandom aren't going to be able to see a difference between furries and the woke mob.
My personal economic position is a hybrid of socialism and capitalism; pure anything always leads to some flavor of authoritarianism. I'm already a minority in terms of world population by A LOT, and now I'm a minority in my own country too. The only concerns I have for people is for my own people and mine alone. Being a furry doesn't make anyone a minority since it's a personal preference. I keep checking democrat candidates year after year and so far Tulsi Gabbard is the only one in recent memory that is worth a damn and she is being ostracized for being moderate. I'm stuck holding my nose at the ballot box because no party will put forth mixed issue or moderate candidates; it's always extremists toeing their party lines. Candidates aren't allowed any cross-over room on issues.
Most of big tech is chained up to the authoritarian left, as are financial institutions, and plenty of colleges; fascism isn't exclusive to one wing of extremism or the other.
I would love to have a government that leaves the people alone and does what it's supposed to do; like provide for the common defense and stay out of foreign affairs. A government that doesn't help me succeed nor hinder me. This is just a dream for now and we have more immediate matters that need to be addressed; like auditing the FED, securing the borders and ports of entry, ending the war on drugs, and reigning in the grievous federal abuses of the interstate commerce clause (like Wickard v. Filburn).
It's my opinion that political debate ended years ago and I rarely take part it anymore outside of my inner circle. All we can do now is get good seats while we watch Rome collapse.

While I personally don't agree with everything due to having other thoughts and partly because I don't know better as a german, this was very refreshing to read. A thought-out response without mocking or ridicule and just stating ideas, facts and thoughts. Politics is tyring these times and just reading someone being reasonable already helps a bit getting through the day. Thanks again.
Mmm, I'm probably going to have to lower the price on my remaining product to get it sold before Christmas. The market is exceptionally competitive right now and people are offering better deals than I am and customer's are being ever tighter with what little money they have. If I decide to put my commissions sign out again - TMK, I haven't drawn for $ in years - then I'm just more competition. I expect more people to jump into art as a side-hustle again too.
This isn't investment or financial advice. If at all possible, work your way up to an ounce of gold and the equivalent value in silver. Even if the dollar holds out a while longer, you will own your share of the world supply. I'm slowly working my way up as well.

Definitely because the cost of living has gone up, I cannot afford any new art. Just finished getting a commission recently, but it was arranged for at the beginning of the year and only now completed. Not seeing myself have another one for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. :'( Hope it does get better for you, good luck!
