Someone on deviantart asked me what would happen if they made babies and I went with "meteorites" :p

Yeah, I would have guessed that texture was pretty time-consuming. I always end up hyperfocusing when doing large areas of fur/hair like that, and before I realize it an hour has gone by and I've covered half the page with hash marks. Tree leaves are also a big one.

Normally I'm not so motivated, but I was doing commissions on some little side art-forum on a non-art-website for like, dirt cheap (and still getting scammed!!!!!!!sjkdf) so this nice girl tossed me a couple (a lot) of bones and said she wanted something for her boyfriend's birthday.
So I was like "yes ma'am. " and decided that it was time to actually put forth effort into something, like individually drawing six thousand strands of fur.
I taught myself that fur technique since I suck at following tutorials for some reason even though that's their sole purpose so I guess I'm retarded..... so there was at least a few days of being super zoomed in and doing lots of fur and then zooming out and realizing it looked like crap, erase, rinse, repeat.
In the end I still got lazy... but being that it was for a birthday I was on a set schedule, aha. :|
I'm pretty pleased still with earthy's neck-fur and his branches, so if I could just like crop it so that's all that's showing... I'd be happy.

Yeah, the details on the earth one are really very nice. The fire one's just looks like it took longer because more of it is in the light.
And I hate scammers. They made me change my standards for accepting commissions. Too many times producing art without any compensation... I feel your pain, hehe.

Yeah, same here... I tried to adopt a system where you pay as soon as I START your commission, so that I can't possibly waste my time on it before they decide they don't want it or they aren't going to pay.
But then if I end up taking forever on it because something happens irl, I end up feeling like an extra-ass because they already paid. :I
Life is difficult when people can't do things the convenient guilt-free way >:|

Gosh this is so old, even older than this upload indicates. But at the time I was SO proud of it, hahah. I think this was my first and last "big commission" ever actually, where she just dropped a bunch of money on me as a gift for someone's birthday. :> I was so flattered but I was also young and stupid and probably gave her a like 30 DPI image as the final product, ha... whoops.
