Winter new family

This is an alternate Universe story of Wings of fire
It is set a few months after book 5 Brightest Night.
But with a few changes, as you see. I have to change the timeline when Scarlet goons capture Hailstorm.
It happens sooner, as you will see, while certain Dragons' stories have changed.
Queen Glacier will also not be killed like in the books. That pisses me off how she was just written off.

So, this will be a heavy Glacier story and a Happier Winter down the line. Also, who knows, he might meet a cetin Sandwing and Nightwing sooner: 3

Chapter 2 A New Start

Private Royal Hospital room of the IceWing Kingdom


Winter moaned in pain as he moved around on his hospital bed since he was having a nightmare about what had just happened to him.
"No, Mother, please, daddy, make it stop, please I'm sorry. They were too many, and Ahhhhhhhhh!" Winter shouted while asleep.

"Winter darling, wake up. It's over; you're safe." A calm female voice said to him, trying to wake him, but his mind refused to let him wake up from his nightmare.

Winter Nightmare

"Please, Icicle, dad, help me stop her. Ahh!" Winter screamed in his dream and reality as he shook in fear. Winter was trying to escape a creepy-looking Tundra in his dream as his father and Sister looked on with uncaring looks.

"You are no brother to me, scum." Dream Icicle said to him.

"You deserve death. We lost Hailstorm because of you!" Dream Narwal said to him in a cold tone.

"Winter, it's not real WAKE UP!" He heard the mysterious but familiar voice say, but he saw no one but his family.

Winter looks at the deformed, darker bodies of his family, who are looking at him with disgust as he looks at the blood gushing out of his wounds. Winter then looks at the cruel, disturbing look of his mother standing above him.

"Mother, please, I'm sorry." Winter tried to say as he coughed up blood from his mouth.

Tundra said nothing as she looked at him, as Winter watched his father and Sister walk closer to them while speaking to his mother.

"Kill the mistake!"

"Rip out his thought!"

"Winter, WAKE UP!" Winter heard the voice not belonging to his family shout louder than before.

"Kill him, Kill him!"

"This is for my only Son, Hailstorm!" Tundra said coldly as she opened her mouth to use her Frost breath on him.
Winter let out a scream of fear but then heard the unknown voice once more.
"WINTER, WAKE UP. IT'S NOT REAL!" The unknown voice shouted as he felt the world around him shake.

As the blast from his mother's attack came towards him, he felt a prick of pain before blacking out and waking up from his nightmare.

End of Winter Nightmare

Winter jumped in fright while shaking in fear as he looked around, confused and scared.
"Winter, it's OK. It was just a nightmare. You are safe now, I promise you." A soft but familiar friendly voice said to him as they put a paw on his Wing.

Winter quickly turned to face the unknown Dragon, ready to defend himself even if his body was screaming in pure pain and agony from his beating from his mother to see it was Blaze.

Blaze looks at him with a worried look on her face, causing him to lower his guard. But he was still on edge as he slowly worked out. He was in Queen Glacier private hospital room. Winter was so confused right now. Why was he in this room with Blaze checking up on him?

"BLAZE? Why am I here in the Queen Private Hospital room? Why am I even being healed or helped? I let my brother. A Royal family member gets captured by Scarlet. I am a mistake, and I deserve my punishment. I am a failure to the IceWings." Winter said sadly before shouting at her more anger and rage at himself than Blaze.

"Oh, Winter, please, I know it will take a long time for you to get over this, even if you ever do! We heard from a few guards who talked to you when you returned to the castle. But please listen, darling, it was not your fault, dear.

Your mother stepped over the line like she had abused you several times. Over simple things, and this time she went to fare." Blaze said with disgust as she looked over Winter's many wounds.

It would take a while for his physical injuries to heal. But the mental ones would probably never recover sadly from the abuse Winter had gone through his whole life. Even with the healers of both Icewings and Sandwings helping tend to Winter injuries.

Winter reminded Blaze of her young self, how her sisters abused her and her mother treated her as a toy. Only her brothers and father seem to care for her. Like Hailstorm did for Winter, and soon to see others too, Blaze thought.


"But it is my fault if I was stronger and…" Winter said, shaking with rage and sadness at his failure to save Hailstorm.

"WINTER ENOUGH!" A robust and powerful female shouted as the new Dragon entered the room, causing Winter to stop speaking and gasp in shock.

"Queen Glacier, I'm sorry I don't know why I am in your private Hospital room, and I leave right now, and I ummppp!" Winter tried to say in a quick panic tone, seeing his Queen walking closer to him but to his shock, having his Queen hug him Surprised him.

Winter had no clue how to act. Queen Glacier broke all most every rule their kind had set on being an Icewing. This went agents all that he was taught about how to be an Icewing and act.

As he felt her much larger wings softly wrap around him, as Glacier rested her head on his, she started to cry onto his scales taking him by surprise even more. What was going on right now? Was this a dream as well?

"I'm so sorry, Winter, as a Queen, no, as your flesh and blood have failed to protect my family member from being abused by your so-called family," Glacier said in an upset tone, with a hit of anger at the mention of a particular Dragon.

"Queen Glacier, I uh?" Winter tried to reply but struggled to form his words, looking at his aunt with a confused and worried look.

"Please, Winter, stop it. Let me speak, OK, not as you, Queen but as your aunt, OK? Thank you! I have never been happy with how your mother and father treated your siblings, mostly you.

It was not proper Winter at all. I would have talks with my children and Hailstorm about what they saw happen to you, but since I was not there, I could not act on it since they knew they were protected under Royal family laws. It broke my heart when I watched you chat with Blaze, hiding the new wounds they give you for not doing everything perfectly in their eyes.

It angers me so much, Winter. I know you want your family to love you since you believe in the mistakes you were making. According to you, you are worthy of the abuse they did to you.

NO, IT IS NOT OK! They also abused their powers as Royal members to get away with their abuse of you. No one above the law, not even me, and what they did to you is unforgivable, so I have stripped them of everything and sent them to the bottle circle. I'm so sorry, Winter, as you Queen, no as you Aunt, I didn't protect you enough from what my brother and Sister-in-law did to you." Glacier said with all her emotions as she let out a long speech she had wanted to say for a very long time.

She then felt Blaze wrap her tail around hers as support as she smiled at the Sandwing as tears still fell down her scales.

Winter was shocked that his Queen was apologising for what happened to him. For a long time, he felt happy that the pain would stop. His family had been banished in the Icewing's ways to protect him from them. Also, what would happen to him now that he had no one?

"So, what will happen to me now? Exiled from the Icewing kingdom for bringing shame to the Royal family," Winter asked in a panicked tone remembering the rules he was taught as a young hatchling.

"What! No, Winter, you are not going anywhere since you have moved to the top circle along with my children and me! I token you as my son under Icewing law by Queen's rights. But do you accept this Winter, you don't have to call me Mum, OK? I did this to show you want true family love is. I promise we will bring back Hailstorm safely, OK? So, what do you say." Glacier asked him.

Glacier looks at Winter, shocked and confused face like he is fighting his demons.

"I um……... yes, I accepted this choice," Winter said in a soft, tired tone.

Glacier smiled happily as she nodded, watching Winter yawn before falling asleep with a slight smile she had not seen since he was a young hatchling playing tag with her.

Blaze moves over to nuzzle Glacier as they watch Winter's sleeping form, hoping he will have a nice dream for the first time in a long time.

As tomorrow would be the start of a new life for Winter.
