Been working on this a tiny bit at a time since september. Took a long time to paint.
Even before last august I had been sort of thinking about changing my character, and with everything that's happened, I'm just not the same person any more.
Kuro is eight years old. I designed them when I was 13, and very little has changed about them since the first couple years.
In all likelihood the new character will probably end up being more a redesign than a huge change, but I don't know yet. Their canon will probably not carry over to the new character, not exactly.
But this picture is a farewell to Kuro, as they are, as they were.

This is so prettyyy. I love the soft hints of golden yellow in some of Kuro's outline and shading, just subtly defying the monochrome and hinting at what the character used to be. The folds of the cloth-paper-flesh twisting and ripping are really well rendered, too. :o
*snugs* You grow, you change, but you never truly change who you are at your core. :)

This is sad... tears came to my eyes as I remembered the past of my youth, the days when my art would go on for nights without end...
Before I found out that life is a struggle without end. I have changed, and so too has my style and will to draw... though not my passion, as that has gotten ever stronger.
It's scary at first... then you get so used to it you forget the changes...
