Wow.
How are you able to keep track of so many ratties out at one time? XD
I've held a rat before, and many mice. They're very cute animals. Some are defensive and will bite you like crazy but it's not their fault. I actually quite like rats and mice, especially mice with a calico coat. <3
The one on the top left is the cutest in my opinion, and the one at the bottom right looks like he's broken XD

I have more than this out at one time sometimes :P
I know all of them individually, even when I have about 6 white, pink-eyed rats; I know who each one is and where he is.
I guess its an instinct after 13 years.
I don't have much experience with mice, but rats virtually never bite. I've had some horribly abused rats come into my sanctuary, and done some horrible things to them like lancing abscesses and cleaning wounds, and virtually never get bitten. They're such gentle animals.

Eesh, and I had trouble with 4 kittens XD
I sure hope so! But then again, even if you have two identical pets, they both always have different personalities. It's kinda easy, if you really love them!
I mentioned this to my mother and she said when she was a little girl with her siblings they had hamsters, mice and pet rats too, and only the hamsters and mice bit. The rats didn't do a thing. I mentioned to her even wounded rats didn't bite you and she told me the only time she's ever had a rat bite someone, is when the person was a really horrible person. Makes you wonder XD
You've actually inspired me to want a pet rat, or a pet ferret, but I doubt I'd be able to adopt a ferret (California, I'd need an expensive permit -_-) and a rat...my mother might not let me, due to apartment living and two 6 year old cats XD
Of course were I ever allowed I'd adore a pet ratty I did 3 months of research and planning on a pet Axolotl but they're illegal in California. T^T fffff

I have a cat, always have had cats, long before the rats came along. It really isn't an issue. As long as the cats and rats never meet face to face without a cage between them, there wouldn't be any trouble.
I keep my rats in a seperate room at all times, but if that isn't an option, it isn't the end of the world if they meet nose to nose through the bars. The cat might get a nip, or the rats might be scared of the cat's smell, but they eventually adjust.
Rats are great apartment pets! Theyre as friendly and interactive as a dog, but take up much less space!
Ferrets perhaps less so :P I have one and she is a nutter. She needs a LOT of attention and she is quite messy!
