You probably noticed that Terra was a rather lean fellow, way back when he was in early stages of conceptualization, which was sort of intended to bear similarity to my actual build. Artists like
Werewolfhero and
drcbllz and
Strype made me realize, though--muscle can be rather nice! So when Halloween rolled around and Vin was thinking of making a monster version of my character, a classic Halloweeny werewolf notion was one that readily popped into mind. (I'm not sure if it was his head or mine, but we're both zany, so maybe it was both.) And what good is a scrawny werewolf, I ask you?
The initial version of this was done in openCanvas without background, and was quite nice in and of itself--but then Vin surprised me with this wallpaper-ized version, and so it was that I was looking at it for several weeks every time I opened my computer. It was an excellent gift.
It was then that I realized: Terra looks pretty great with a more muscular build. This piece had an instrumental role in redefining Terra's look over time. (It also demonstrated that electric blue can look pretty sweet in his hair, with or without the usual royal blue.) Vin also had a neat idea in taking Terra's ribbon motifs and making them look all bedraggled and dirty to fit the mood of the image--great creativity!
Vin has always been, to me, a rather enjoyable fellow. He's a bit bristly with snarkiness at times, but if you ignore the spiny bits (or better yet, laugh at them), he's really a great guy. He is one of the many furry peoples that I have been so fortunate to get to know, and I remain grateful for having had the opportunity.
Now maybe if he'd show his face more often, I could thank him with some more harassment. XD
