Corby and I visited TRF last Sunday, right before Halloween. I debated making an attempt at the medieval theme, but used the 'it's halloween' excuse to not worry about it. Vyv has punk baked in to her. (the spiked collar and bracelets are sewn on)
Corby suited for a while as Iggy, got in lots of pics, turned purple from the heat. It was a nice cool day but a 3/4ths suit is still a challenge!
When we switched out who was costuming (Corby would like to point out that I am a very bad handler :) ) I speculated that the punk partial would be waaay less popular for pics with kids. And he was right, only one family wanted a pic with Vyv and their kid and they were putting the kid up to it.
In this pic, out of sight behind me on the bench is mom, who played up being terrified of me, so I had to come sit next to her of course. She had two girls dressed up as princesses, the older one played along and was hiding out of frame, but the younger one had no intention of playing along with that. She asked to see my claws and I pointed out my pretty shiny black nail polish. 'Black is my favorite color!' she told me.
I hope her princess outfit is goth next year now that mom knows. :)
Oh, second part to the discussion about the kids probably finding the costume unapproachable. 'Chicks will probably go for it,' Corby opined. (us queer furries talk like 60's greasers, you know) He was half right, I did get more photo requests than I expected (I expected almost none) but they were almost all from adults. More chicks than dudes but not by a huge margin. I don't know what that means, probably 'people at big dress up events like seeing people dress up' and nothing more. :)
