This one is being a pain to get a good pic of so I'm deeming this good enough haha. I'm sure you will get the general gist anyway. Tis the Demonlord of Vrykolakas, Ciro Carden, and his son, the prince of Vrykolakas, Viorel Carden!
The BG colors are intentional for a multitude of reasons. Ciro's abilities are very shadowy in nature and he has an aura that darkens the environment around him. He's calm but intimidating, many assume he's cold and calculating; shrouded in mystery and intrigue.
Viorel didn't inherit his father's darkness based abilities. His are all blood based. He also has no chill. He can fake having some chill, but he is a constant nervous wreck. He tries his best, but feels his shortcomings are constantly in the spotlight.
The final reason deals with their storyline integrations. Ciro, while calm and in absolute control of all, clings to their older traditions, choosing not to associate with outsiders to his covenkin unless required; whereas Viorel has been raised with the intention of normalizing it.
So Ciro sticks to the shadows and Viorel's out in the open. Both influence and impact one another though (thus why darkness is cast on Viorel and why Ciro has a bright rim light.) Viorel feels he'll never measure up to his father and stands in the shadows of a great leader. Ciro believes his son possesses traits that will lead their people to a brighter future.
This picture gave me all kinds of trouble. It was the one I had to wait on the most frequently to dry. But also it was the last one I drew, and all my markers were dying so I was running into a lot of issues were it was getting too sticky and pulling back up its color. That's why some places aren't as smooth as some of the earlier pics. Between all of the above issues, was starting to struggle to get it to hold together and didn't want to accidentally ruin it.
